Besides people don’t come here to watch TV there’s so much to do out of doors in nature and explore the area’s amenities of parks, tourist venues, restaurants and bars!! The house has central AC with 74F fixed setting, optimized for comfort & efficiency; Bedroom has separate AC unit in case you prefer cooler sleeping quarters. Treehouse is 'unplugged' with no cable TV (various DVD movies provided). Enjoy the Gulf breezes with some windows open, weather permitting (i.e. cooler than 74F, the fixed AC setting :) The windows are the older, multi-pane, awning style typical of many older Florida homes. Any window with a crank handle may be opened weather permitting (outside is cooler than 74F, the fixed AC setting). Those windows without crank handles or screens are not to be opened. Ceiling and portable fans in LR/BR/Kitchen provide additional air circulation. For those cooler nights, small electric space heaters are also provided. NOTE: There is ONE queen bedroom and ONE full-mattress sofabed in the living room -- four adults would be very cozy, 3 adults is our recommended maximum. Due to the layout of the place, the Treehouse is best suited for two people. Unfortunately, Tropical Treehouse is NOT suitable for the elderly, youngsters or infants due to the stairs only access and elevated deck. Tropical Treehouse offers a unique experience on many levels. From its interesting architecture to the prime location right beside the famous Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail, and proximity to the Gulf of Mexico only 3 blocks away, you'll find Tropical Treehouse is one of a kind. If you're an avid cyclist, trailwalker or just out for a leisurely stroll, the Pinellas Trail literally borders our property. In fact, the balcony actually overlooks the trailway offering endless people watching fun too! Guest access is by stairs only as shown in the photos. Check-in is between 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. For guests approved to arrive at other times, a lockbox will be available for entry keys. Bring your bicycle or borrow ours! No matter if you're an avid cyclist or prefer a more leisurely pace you'll find all types of pedal bikes on the world-famous 'Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail'. Whether you choose to cycle or simply walk, Pinellas Trail offers an alternative route to many local amenities. It's also a shortcut to the local US Post Office where the Trail crosses Crystal Beach Avenue. Going east on Crystal Beach Ave from here takes you to Alternate 19, 'Emily's Family Restaurant' and 'Sweet Spot' Ice Cream Shop. 'Gyro King' is just north of this corner plaza with excellent gyro wraps -- a nice lunch idea for takeaway to the Gulf Drive parklands at the west end of Crystal Beach Ave. One block further north on Alt 19 at Alderman Road finds Publix, Chase Bank and smoker-friendly 'Rum Runners' Bar & Grille. Hint: Go to 'Rum Runners' on your birthday with ID and get specials when you bring your friends along too! Not wanting too long of a bike ride, you can reach the quaint Palm Harbor downtown very quickly by “Jolly Trolley”. Downtown Palm Harbor has many great choices for food and drink. 'DeBines Brewery', 'Stilt House Brewery', 'Galley Pizza' are also accessible from the Pinellas Trail with a little more exercise involved or 10-15 minutes by “Jolly Trolley”. We love to the short walk to 'Emily's Family Restaurant' for a great breakfast or the 'Fairway Pizza & Sports Page' bar when we don't wish to drive or bicycle. Guest interaction is as little or as much as you wish. We value and respect your privacy. The neighborhood is a quiet one, with a small town feel despite being so close to larger cities. Shop-aholics will love access to everything that Tampa, St. Pete and Clearwater have to offer. The nature lover will enjoy the nearby Honeymoon Island State Park and other park areas nearby. Out of respect for our friends and neighbors as well as those using the Pinellas Trails, we ask that our guests observe ‘Quiet Time’ all the time during their stay. Complimentary coolers with freeze-packs are provided for your use on the property, on your boat or at the nearby beaches and picnic areas.
