The home is a historic 1895 Queen Anne Victorian with gingerbread trim, bay windows, steep pitched roof line and wrap around porch typical of the historic style. The home is 100% authentic, original and historical. Handmade Victorian craftsmanship is everywhere you look. Let me give you the "sixty second tour": Upon entry, one of the first things guests seem to migrate to is the Gentlemen's Parlor directly off the front entry. Warm and inviting and interesting, the room most definitely has a more masculine appeal with deep burnt umber walls, leather chairs, a cowhide rug and artwork by Charles Marion Russell, an artist famous for recording the "Wild West". Often we hear "Where's the whiskey and cigars" and we politely remind of the no smoking policy... but back in the day it may have been what you would find individuals doing in this room. It's is a room that has that cozy warmth appeal that beckons one to come sit a spell. As you move past the 1920's antique Belgium armoire, curiosity may prompt you to open the doors and there you will behold every man's dream- a TV and a vintage Nikko stereo receiver adapted for Bluetooth and equipped with vintage Klipsch speakers. The Gentlemen's parlor opens, through two giant historic, original pocket doors, into the main Living Room... but before we go there lets backtrack into the entry hall. There you will find a place to hang your purse, hat and coat on the antique European hall tree. Be sure to note the authentic original lithographs of the early historic town of Winters on the opposite wall. After a quick check in the mirror, proceeding forward you enter into the main entrance to the Living Room. Be prepared to have to catch your breath- it truly is grand and elegant and you will feel as though you have stepped through a time portal. There is an immediate warmth to the room and as you wander into the space there are many wonderful delights to take in. Take your time- this is a room you will want to linger in. Note the beautiful Degas painting and other historic artwork. To the left of the Living Room is the Master Bedroom- or shall we call it, "The Queen's Boudoire"? If you are wanting Romantic- you just found it! If you have never experienced French Rosewood Rococo Antique design furnishings from 1860 then you are in for a treat! The mattress was carefully chosen for comfort and the luxurious fine linens are made of 100% cotton- fit for a Queen! Notice the vintage French Aubusson rug and the elegant bed coverings by designer J. Queen of New York. (There's a big screen TV behind those amoire doors) The en-suite is elegantly clad in marble, the walls in marble with mother of pearl inlay. The marble floors are heated. There awaits a claw foot tub with all the luxurious linens and amenities you would hope for. Connected to the Queen's Boudoire through two giant pocket doors is the Queen's Sitting Room. You will probably immediately take note that it might be a good place for a game of Scrabble or Backgammon or? It may also be a good spot for coffee or tea or a space to curl up on the antique Queen Anne style love seat to read one of the historic antique books from the home's library. As you re-enter the living room and move to your left you will enter the dining room. This portion of the home decor changes to historical American Oak furnishings. The dining room is equipped with a sweetly unique antique golden American oak dining table and press backed oak chairs, two buffets and a display cabinet all dating back to 1895-1910. There you will find china dishes and a silver setting, crystal bowls and other serving items to enjoy should you decide to cook a meal or two. Off of the dining room is what we refer to as "The Garden Bedroom". Apparently back in the day handiwork was a thing- women took pride in the work of their hands- battenburg lace, quilting, crochet... We kept this in mind to include. Victorians were all about their gardens as well. This room seems to bring the whole garden in with the floral loveseat. The warmth of the golden oak tones of the wood comes together to create a room you will want to relax in. The Garden Room's en-suite has heated marble floors and a shower and again the wonderful soft linens and amenities. Moving on to the back of the house you will enter a small kitchen. It's the sweetest kitchen ever! It is more than adequate should you decide you wish to cook and is completely stocked with the exception of food items. Right next to the kitchen and off of the dining room is the laundry room. Lets go outside! Back to the front porch! On your way open a bottle of vino as you are going to want to plop down in those big Victorian wicker chairs you first passed when you arrived. At certain times of the year you will enjoy the robust scent of Gardenia picked up on the soft breeze or the scent of roses from the roses flanking the front porch or the jasmine creeping up the front arbor entry. Linger outdoors, be sure to grab the snippers and flower basket and go ahead and pick some scented flowers for a bouquet. Vases are sprinkled around. Make yourself at home and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us. This completes your sixty second tour but we would love to give you the tour in person! It is quite memorable- we promise! Guest access You will have exclusive private access to the entire home and gardens. The garage and basement are for the help. There is parking off the rear alley enough for 3 cars but there is also free shaded on street parking out front as well. Other things to note We can be flexible to meet your needs.
