From the house you can step onto the Marlborough Downs, with walks to the Cherhill White Horse and beyond. The location is rural yet convenient, with Marlborough, Avebury, and Chippenham a short drive away. Bath, Stonehenge and the Cotswolds are easily reached for day trips. The secure garden with pergola and BBQ is perfect for families, dogs, and guests attending Wellington Barn events nearby. The space Quemerford Gate is a small hamlet located just off the A4 outside Calne and in the centre of Wiltshire, a short drive from Avebury and Bowood House. Visitors have direct access by foot onto the Marlborough Downs and various walks up to the Cherhill White Horse. The Granary is recently refurbished with a new kitchen and bathrooms, as well as decorating throughout. Please browse our photos to see more about each room. Our accommodation is for 8 people and we can set up the sleeping arrangements in various ways to suit guests. Sleeping accommodation is as follows (please also see the diagram in our listing pictures): Master bedroom (the green room) with a 5 ft king size bed. This room also has a single sofa bed for a child and plenty of room for a travel cot. There is a shared family bathroom upstairs for this room and the second bedroom. The family bathroom includes a bath with overhead and hand shower. Second bedroom (the blue room) is in two parts. There is a sleeping area with two 3ft twin beds. A further sleeping area with a standard 4ft 6 double. Please see the diagram where you will see there are two sleeping areas within the same room. The landing has space for laundry and suitcases. Small downstairs bedroom with ensuite shower room (the yellow room). This bedroom is located off the downstairs hallway and kitchen. It has a small 4ft double bed. The bed has surrounding cushions and so this room can be used as a sitting room. The ensuite shower room has a toilet, small sink and walk in power shower with body jets. This bathroom is used as the downstairs cloakroom. Additional downstairs office / sitting room / bedroom (the grey room). This versatile room is The Old Granary combines quirky character with comfort, offering space for up to 8 guests with flexible sleeping layouts. 🛏 Sleeping arrangements Green Room (Master – upstairs): King bed, single sofa bed for a child, space for travel cot. Shares family bathroom with bath/shower. Blue Room (Upstairs – split space): Two singles in one area and a standard double in the other, making it perfect for families or children. Yellow Room (Downstairs – ensuite): Small double with ensuite shower, sink, and toilet. Also functions as cloakroom. Grey Room (Downstairs – flexible): Large double sofa bed, TV, sliding doors to the front. Can be used as a bedroom, office, or extra sitting room. Children's cot and travel cot. 🍴 Living spaces Granary Room: Spacious open-plan area with seating, TV, and dining. Decorated with antiques, guitars, and eclectic wall art. Kitchen: Fully equipped with induction hob, oven, combi microwave, Aga (winter), American fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, sink, Nespresso machine, and comprehensive kitchen equipment. Complete with children’s plates, cookware, and both indoor/outdoor dining sets. 🌿 Outdoor living Secure enclosed garden, perfect for children and dogs. Covered pergola with seating for up to 12. Sunken BBQ area, water feature troughs, patio with extra table and chairs. Main entrance via the garden gate. 🚗 Parking & security Driveway for 4 cars. Security cameras at the front of the property. Guest access Guests have full use of the entire house and secure garden, including the pergola and BBQ area. Only a couple of storage cupboards remain locked. The layout makes it easy for families, groups, and dog owners to enjoy every part of the property in complete privacy. Other things to note We provide guest guides with recommendations for local eateries, farmers’ markets, family walks, and activities for children. The Granary is close to Marlborough, Avebury, Chippenham and Bowood House, with golf, cycling and canal paths nearby. Local markets, pubs and cafés are within easy reach, while day trips include Lacock, Stonehenge, Bath, Bradford on Avon, Cirencester, the Cotswold Water Park and Longleat. A perfect base for exploring Wiltshire and beyond.
