Pavilion Beach Bar in Old Lyme is a 25 minute drive from the home. Ocean Beach Park is down the street from the home. If you don't want to get salty, there is an Olympic-size swimming pool, and the changing area and token-operated lockers are available for anyone to use. Park admission is the cost of parking, up to five people per vehicle, and there is also a per-person, walk-in rate. This includes use of the facilities, including the beach and pool, as well as the nature trails, picnic area, kiddie playground, and a spray park for kids eight years and younger. For an additional fee, there is a triple waterslide for all ages and 18-hole mini-golf. The park also has a plethora of token-operated entertainment, including kiddie rides like the bumble-bee flyer and more thrilling all-age rides like the Scrambler. There is also a large arcade, which includes classics like pinball and skee-ball. In addition to a gift shop that carries everything from sunscreen to souvenir towels, there is a full-service restaurant, a spot for quick bites, and an ice-cream shop. There are special events throughout the park season, which spans from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There are numerous places in the local area to kayak, paddle board, fish, launch a boat, and/or utilize jetskis: Waterford Beach right next to Ocean Beach, is great for jet skis and small boats; Waterford Park and recreation area; Pleasure Beach boat launch in Waterford by Great Neck School on RT 213; Boat launch under Gold Star Bridge; Boat launch in Niantic by Sunset Ribs. Unfortunately, fishing is prohibited at Ocean Beach Park. This is clearly notated on the Ocean Beach Park website. There is Alewife Cove, directly behind the home which also funnels into the Atlantic and great for kayaking or paddle boarding. Although, dock access is prohibited from the home's property. Here are some other areas to fish within a very short driving distance: Harkness Memorial State Park, Waterford; Fishing is allowed along the beach; No swimming allowed. Fish to be caught: blackfish, bluefish and striped bass can be caught off the rocky point and summer flounder off the beach. Fort Trumbull State Park, New London Handicapped Accessible; There is 24 hour pedestrian access from Riverfront Walk to Pier 4 on the Thames River; Regulations are posted on the pier. Fish to be caught: bluefish, striped bass, summer flounder, hickory shad, scup, tautog, winter flounder and weakfish. Some great places to rent bikes, kayaks, and paddleboards are "Three Belles Marina" in Niantic Ct, "Action Sports" in Old Saybrook CT, and "Adventure Mystic Outdoor Retail Store & Paddle Mystic - Kayak, Paddleboard, and Bike Rental" in Mystic CT. The Amtrack and ShoreLine East train station is just a short 5 minute drive away in Downtown New London, as well as a Greyhound Bus station and Major Ferry Station - The Cross Sound Ferry that ships to Orient Point Long Island, where you can explore the wineries. Also, the Block Island Ferry and the Fishers Island Ferry add to the adventurous getaways available by sea. There is no shortage of day trips you can take when it's just a 5 minute drive back to the house! But if you feel the urge to travel by air, the Bradley International Airport (Hartford CT) and Tweed New Haven Regional Airport (New Haven CT) are an hour away, and Rhode Island T.F. You can utilize Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, etc if you sign in on your own account. To use the cable tv option, set tv brand remote to correct HDMI input, for cable box to link to tv. Next, turn the cable button on, on "cable remote" and then press guide. You should now be able to scroll through the cable tv channel listings and select your program.
