The Barn

Enjoy the sounds of nature, the quiet and restfulness of The Barn. It comfortably accommodates 4 adults and 2 kids. Kayak(bring your own) up our estuary to the matakana village and grab a coffee or head out and explore the area by water. 3 minutes by car to Matakana village and 9 minutes to Omaha beach. Lots to see and do in this area, with many beach options, walking/biking tracks, eateries in Matakana and local attractions. You will love it here. The space Our American style barn, features one of the bedrooms being a mezzanine loft style room, which overlooks the downstairs barn area. The other bedroom is situated on the ground floor. The third space is solely for the kids. A Loft space for them to sleep, hang and enjoy. This sleeps two kids and has two single beds. This space can also accommodate 2 adults but due to the location of the loft, there is height restriction with the exposed rafters and access is small wall steps Int the loft that you would need to be aware of before you book. There is one main bathroom, with shower over the bath. Open plan living and great indoor outdoor flow. Take a seat outside amongst the beautifully established private garden area, full of fruit trees. If they are in season on your stay, help yourself. Figs, feijoa, peaches, grapes. Furniture, furnishings and linen are all quality. Guest access You will have access to your own private garden area and surrounding area of the barn. A very private and quiet setting. Other things to note The Barn is comfortable and well-appointed, but it comes with honesty: this isn’t a brand-new build. You’ll find touches of wear that remind you of its years doing service—those creaks, the softened edges, the patina of time. And that’s part of its charm. We’ve kept its soul, added the necessities (cozy bedding, good linens, well-equipped kitchen and so on) so you can stay in comfort and still feel like you’re staying somewhere special. Set on our rural property, you’ll wake to birdsong and views that stretch across fields, not cityscapes. The barn’s large open volume lets you gather around, perhaps with a glass of something and a game or good conversation. The Barn is for the quiet enjoyment of our paying guests, there is to be no parties, gatherings or extra people staying.
