A peaceful haven in the Val d'Hérens
A peaceful haven in the Val d'Hérens
Description
Chalet, family and comfortable, surrounded by nature at 1680 m alt. with its particular fauna and flora, in the "Val d'Hérens", on the road leading to the Lovégno pasture. It is a serene and soothing place where you can recharge your batteries in a sumptuous setting of mountains and glaciers, forests and mountain pastures. This is the starting point for several hikes in winter, spring, summer or fall. A magical place where you can immerse yourself in nature. The space The chalet – 220 m2 livable – has 3 levels: • A ground floor that opens through a large bay window on a flat land with an unobstructed view. This level has in the same space the kitchen, the dining room and the living room with its library. On this floor there is also a bathroom with toilet and shower, a wine cellar and storage and a laundry room. • The middle floor has a central living room with TV, soapstone stove. This level has 3 bedrooms, each with 2 beds (= 1 double bed). This floor includes a second bathroom with toilet and shower. A balcony is located to the southwest. • The upper floor is entirely occupied by a large living space under the framework with a large double bed and a balcony on the front. P.S. heating is provided by electric baseboard heaters with adjustment in each room. Internet with WiFi available. Other things to note SPORTS ACTIVITIES Winter: from the chalet there are several cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. However, there are no ski lifts in the municipality of St-Martin. On the other hand, you can reach Veysonnaz and the Four Valleys, the largest ski area in Switzerland, which goes as far as Verbier and offers 410 km of ski slopes, in 35 minutes by car. There are also the Evolène and Nax areas 20 minutes away and that of Arolla, a high mountain resort, 40 minutes away. You can also organize a day of skiing at the Montana-Crans resort (50 minutes), possibly in Saas-Fee or Zermatt if you have more time. Spring/summer/fall: all these seasons have their charm. The Val d'Hérens is teeming with several flat trails along the bisses or up to the mountain pastures, cabins and glaciers. To name just two that pass close to the Grangeneuve chalet: - The nature trail that goes up almost the entire Val d'Hérens. - The educational trail that extends from the hot springs of Combioule at 800 m altitude to the Becs de Bosson hut at 3000 m. CULTURAL ASPECTS and VISITS • Visit the villages of Val d'Hérens, particularly Evolène, with its museums, queen fights and restaurants; • Visit the Grande Dixence, the highest gravity dam in the world at the bottom of Val des Dix; • Visit to Sion: its medieval old town, its two hills with the beautiful Basilica of Valère and the Château de Tourbillon, its museums, its extraordinary Neolithic past with its menhirs, dolmens and stelae, not to mention its lively Friday market which is the largest in French-speaking Switzerland.
