The Arvilla is a generational born again coal mining home that belonged to my great grandparents. It was the meeting place of my grandparents while my grandfather finished college and pastored at a local church. The house was left to my grandmother and we are now blessed with this piece of history. Over the decades, there has been a lot of family love within these walls and we are excited to share everything this cozy space has to offer. Welcome to Williamsburg, where everything feels like home. The Arvilla is an old coal mining home that is two bedroom and one bath. The house is unique in its own way, with two separate bedrooms (with their own entrances) and conjoining door between the two rooms. The kitchen is also interesting, as it was an add on later in the life of the house and has a slanted ceiling. We recently remodeled the kitchen allowing it to feel more open. The whole house. The Arvilla is nestled in Highland park about 3 miles from the interstate (I-75) and is 1.5 miles from University of the Cumberlands. It is a little over a mile from downtown Williamsburg where you can find unique shopping and eateries. Downtown offers a hometown feel with hand crafted soaps at The Suds Barn, the latest fashion at Ever Aston, and novelty gifts at the Mercantile. Downtown food options consist of The Brick Oven that offers a variety of wood fired pizza's and other excellent cuisine. The Butcher's Pub not only offers yummy food options, but sets the mood for a fun night with live music. The Mercantile on Main offers a menu full of home cooked soups and sandwhiches that will leave you wanting more. The CopperTop and Tap has a great menu of food and beer, along with speciality cocktails, and an atmosphere that will leave you ordering a nightcap. If you want to stay close to The Arvilla then check out Highland Park Drive-in just down the road from the house and order to-go delicious food that has fed "The Burg" for decades. Or, venture down the road to G&E for a burger basket and beer on the river! For all the early birds, don't forget to check out the Cumberland River coffee shop located in the heart of downtown or a run to King Donuts for a dozen freshly made donuts. If you are wanting to expand your palette you can head North about 15 mins to Corbin, KY where you can dine at the Wrigley, which is a farm to table restaurant that has been televised on The Foodnetwork channel! While your there you also have other dining options such as Austin City Saloon, which offers an amazing nightlife scene, along with food and hefty drink menu. If you are wanting a more unique experience then Seasons would be a meal to remember. While in Corbin don't forget to check out the World's first KFC, which is about 16 miles from The Arvilla. Corbin (which is about 15 mins from our home) also offers opportunities for family fun with the Pinball Museum, Campbell's Ceramics, and Tri County Cineplex. Also check the line up for the Corbin Arena, as we have recently had some big time performers grace our community. If you wanted to head North a little further, you can stop at the Folk and Art capitol of Kentucky in Berea. It is a personal day trip favorite, along with a stop at Buc-ee's! Or head south and explore Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for the day, it’s roughly about an 1 1/2 hours of beautiful mountain scenery! If you love to explore the outdoors you're in luck! Our home is roughly 25 mins or about 16 miles from The Cumberland Falls -Daniel Boone National Forest- home of one of world's last two moonbows! The Cumberland Falls also offers many beautiful and scenic hiking trails. Our home is about 25 miles from Levi Jackson State park, around 22 miles from Holly Bay campground, 13 miles from the Grove campground and Laurel Lake, 3.5 miles from Copperhead trail, about 10 miles from Patrick's Point, and just 2.3 miles from Kentucky Splash waterpark! If you are feeling lucky, then check out the new Cumberland Mint Gaming Hall! It is 3.1 miles from The Arvilla and offers 450 gaming machines, delicious food at The Backyard restaurant (within the casino and has a private enternce for families) or check out the cocktail menu at the Midnight Bourbon Bar. Just down the road from The Mint is The Bourbon Barn, Walmart, Shoes Sensation, along with a variety of fast food options. Feeling sick while staying with us? No worries, Williamsburg offers a variety of urgent care locations and The Arvilla is located about 15 mins from the nearest Baptist Health Hospital.
