Description

The Cabin at Crazy K Farm is a small, two bedroom one-bathroom guest house situated next to a non-profit animal sanctuary in rural Hempstead. Our cabin is original to the property and has been updated to offer modern amenities and a warm, rural, old-Texas ambiance that reflects its original cattle-ranch roots. Wake up to the calls of roosters and guinea fowl, or maybe even a little songbird tapping on your window! Proceeds from your stay support the animal sanctuary. The space This is a small, newly renovated, rustic 2-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin. The walls are a bit delicate so no rough-housing please! The floors are the original unfinished, unsealed wood floors. Access is via walking on the grass around the cottage at the front, and up a short flight of wooden steps. Guest access You must be accompanied to access the 35 acres on which the animals reside. Other things to note It's very quiet - but you may hear our roosters crowing in the morning and there is a little songbird that likes to tap on the windows. Although you do need a car to get around, we are the ideal location for day trips in Texas. Drive-wise, are under a one-hour from Houston, College Station. Bryan and Navasota. We are two hours from Austin, and 2.5 hours from San Antonio. Day trips include antiquing and touring the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory in Brenham (Brenham is recognized as “The Antique Capital of Texas”, boasting more than 40 independently owned antique shops and malls), the Antique Rose Emporium (the emporium is home to over 200 varieties of roses, making it one of the largest collections in the United States), the Bluebonnet Festival in the Blue Bonnet capital of Texas, Chappel Hill, The Washington-on-Brazos State Historic Site on the Brazos River (where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed in 1836), the Texas Cotton Gin Museum, (which is dedicated to preserving the history of the cotton gin and its impact on the state of Texas), a working lavender farm (cut your own lavender!) and a variety of wineries.
