Explore all Ithaca has to offer, while staying in the beautiful Hamlet of Brooktondale, NY. Located just 6 miles from Cornell, Ithaca College, and downtown Ithaca, this single family home is the perfect place to unwind and relax. Cayuga Lake, Fingerlakes State Parks, and many hiking/biking trails are just a short drive away. This historical home was built in the 1850s and has been tastefully remodeled to include modern updates while keeping it's farmhouse charm. The space The house is nestled along Six Mile Creek, steps away from the old wooden railroad trestle that once ran across and above the creek, just west of the house. The home boasts three bedrooms and two full baths. There are beautiful original wood floors and high ceilings throughout the first floor. Two cozy and comfortable bedroom spaces are on the second floor. The home has a large front porch and beautiful private backyard. All the bedrooms have brand new mattresses, bedding, and pillows. The first floor bedroom has a king bed and is steps away from the bathroom with a stand up shower. Two additional bedrooms are on the second floor. These bedrooms each have one full sized bed. There is a bathroom with a bathtub and shower upstairs. If you choose to cook, we have you covered. You'll find a large kitchen with all new appliances (refridgerator, stove, and dishwasher). We provide diningware, cookware, and other kitchen supplies you'll likely need on your stay. We will try to keep fresh Ithaca Coffee Company grounds stocked for your use, along with other cooking basics. A small dinette set sits just off the kitchen for morning coffee or meals. There is also a gas grill for bar-b-ques, if you'd like to cook out! The living room has a chaise sofa and comfy chair for enjoying the natural light that enters through the front windows that overlook the large porch. There is seating on the porch to enjoy the outdoors, have a drink, and watch passerbys. The home has an office space, if you need to login and work while on your stay. The house has broadband and excellent secure wifi connectivity throughout. All the bedrooms, along with the living room, have new flat screen smart TVs. You can log into your favorite streaming services on these devices. You are also welcome to use the first floor washer and dryer. A brand new deck provides the perfect space to sit outside and eat while enjoying the large back yard. The yard is covered by a canopy of large trees that provide ample space for birds. We have seen Blue Herons and Bald Eagles fly over the house. We also hear a variety of owls at night. There is also a small fire pit with firewood for making bonfire, if you're so inclined. During your stay, you can explore the Ithaca area or enjoy our little hamlet here in Brooktondale. Just a three minute stroll down the road, you'll find the Brookton's Market. The Brookton's Market offers delicious made-to-order sandwiches for breakfast or lunch. There is plenty of seating to take in the local fare. Here you'll always find fresh local coffee to enjoy. The market also features over 20 craft beers on tap and has many events, including live music. Guest access The house is fully open and accessible to our guests, with exception to the mechanical rooms and garage. We prefer that you enter through the back door as that entryway is more spacious. However, you can enter/exit through either the front door or the back door, whichever is convenient for you. There is a long driveway available, with space for multiple cars. Additional parking is available (across the street) for a boat if needed. There are multiple boat lauches on Cayuga Lake. Please just let us know in advance if you would like to utilize the additional parking across the street. Other things to note Although this home is very close to Ithaca, we are in a quiet neighborhood. There are neighbors which we need to respect. Although this is a rural area, there are typical neighborhood sounds (light traffic, pedestrians, etc). The road has some traffic, but the speed limit is 35MPH in front of this house. Many people enjoy evening walks and riding bikes. We have tried to stock the home with everything you will need, but in the event you forgot something, please contact us. We can try to get it to you if we can. If you are looking for any suggestions on things to do, we are happy to help.
