Our family loves Eastport and the ocean . We dreamed of buying a home here and finally found the perfect home in November 2022 We own an Rv park in Medway Maine, approximately 120 miles from Eastport . We manage the park from May to October, so we decided to share this lovely home while we are working in Medway. The home is newly furnished and decorated to reflect the seaside village of Eastport. This home is a quintessential New Englander which sits on over 1.5 acres in the heart of the island city of Eastport. Built by John Henward, a past Mayor of Eastport . The 1st floor's living room and dining room/parlor receive sun year-round due to their southern exposure and the sea-breeze blowing through the bay windows The charm of the house has been retained with original moldings, a clawfoot tub, and a beautiful stained glass window. The back deck overlooks a natural area where deer and the occasional night heron can be seen. If you would rather head out for a bite to eat, a musical performance, or just a scenic stroll, Eastport's historic downtown is a short walk away. We do not allow pets although we love them. We live full time in the house over the winter with our 2 fur babies. They can tell other dogs have been in the house and they can react in a negative way, therefore we’ve chosen not to have other pets stay. You can walk to town within minutes to restaurants, coffee shop, brewery and wine shop. There are gift shops and a grocery and hardware store in less than a mile Here’s a little history About as far “downeast” as you can get in Maine, the coastal city of Eastport is right across the bay from New Brunswick, Canada, and situated on Moose Island, between Cobscook Bay and Passamaquoddy Bay. Eastport has the deepest port on the East Coast, and this region is notorious for its ripping tides and powerful currents. These features have given birth to a rare phenomenon—reversing falls in nearby Pembroke. The churning water kicks food to the surface, supporting rare forms of aquatic life and attracting seals and eagles at high tide – great for whale watching. Between Eastport and Deer Island is another natural wonder—Old Sow in Passamaquoddy Bay, believed to be the biggest whirlpool in the Western Hemisphere. In the late 1800s, Eastport, Maine had a bustling sardine canning industry, with more than a dozen canneries. The notable mansions and architecture of this era are found today throughout Eastport’s streets, with 29 buildings on the National Historic Registry in downtown alone.   Home to the nationally recognized Tides Institute and Museum of Art, the Eastport Arts Center, summer Art Walks, a rip roaring Fourth of July Celebration as well as Salmon and Pirate Festivals in September, Eastport is a delightful place to visit or live.  Walking, biking or driving is easy from this home Lubec, quoddy head lighthouse are a 35 minute drive. The lighthouse park is beautiful and has trails along the rugged coast with gorgeous views. The are picnic tables at the parking lot The bridge to Campobello Island iNew Brunswick Canada is in Lubec. It’s worth the drive to see the International park and lighthouse alongwith Roosevelts summer home We have 2 guest rooms available The larger room has a queen size bed a large closet and a small dresser The 2nd room is a small bedroom It was designed for children with a bunk bed and a sleeping chair. I allow adults to sleep in this room, but it is small and may not be suitable
