This unique place has a style all its own! With sweeping views across the lake and the surrounding mountains, this comfortable two bedroom two bathroom apartment has it all! A wraparound balcony on which to enjoy morning breakfast or a lovely dinner immersed in the surrounding nature and beauty of the changing colors of this valley. The interior is clean with cool relaxing hues and all modern conveniences. Come enjoy the peace of a quiet location with high speed internet and the comforts of home The space The apartment is lakefront and boasts two full bedrooms and a bathroom and a half with shower. A full kitchen opens onto the living area and dining area and directly onto the wraparound balcony with drop dead views. You feel that you can touch the sky from this apartment. The apartment is extremely versatile, and you can seamlessly move in and outdoors. Its location is up the mountain, so a car is essential to move around. Campione d'Italia has a ring road around it, and the apartment is found at the northern end of the road, in a quiet area. It is in a cluster of buildings cleverly built so they don't impact one another's view. It has free underground parking, and a dedicated laundry room. The laundry room is a common area to the building, but the washer and dryer are exclusive to the apartment, and their usage is at no extra charge. This is an amazing perk, unusual in this part of the world. Campione is an Italian Enclave entirely in Switzerland. It has been called the "back door" to Switzerland. While you are in Italy, most of the services are delivered by Swiss entities. It is an eclectic mix between the two Countries. While Italian is the official language, English and Russian are widely spoken. There is a soft border between Campione and Switzerland (an Arch that is hardly ever manned) allows for a free flow of traffic.... There are some excellent restaurants in Campione: Da Candida is a Michelin Star restaurant and requires advance reservations. Grotto Rialdo is an excellent pizzeria, and by the lakeside you will find a couple of Japanese Sushi places. Bar Campione d'Italia is a coffee bar along the lake, also serving snacks and quick lunches. Campione Market is the only food store to be found within the enclave and it's open every day but closes for lunch between 1 and 3 PM, however immediately outside you will find a Coop, a Migros and a Denner markets in the vicinity. There is also a ferry boat that connects the enclave to Lugano. History of Campione d'Italia: In the first century BC the Romans founded the garrison town of Campilonum to protect their territories from Helveti invasions. In 777, Toto of Campione, a local Lombard Lord, left his inheritance to the archbishop of Milan specifically to the Abbey of Sant’Ambrogio. In 1512, the surrounding area of Ticino was transferred from the ownership of the bishop of Como to Switzerland by Pope Julius II, as a thank you for the support in the War of the Holy League. However, the Abbey maintained control over what is now Campione d'Italia. When the Ticino Canton chose to become part of the Swiss Confederation in 1798, the people of Campione chose to remain part of Lombardy. In 1800, Ticino proposed an exchange for Campione. In 1814 a referendum was held, and the residents of Campione opposed it. In 1848, during the wars of Italian unification, Campione petitioned Switzerland for annexation, but this was rejected due to the Swiss desire for neutrality. After Italian unification in 1861, all land west of Lake Lugano and half of the lake were given to Switzerland so that Swiss trade and transport would not have to pass through Italy.
