The Cabin at Minka Farm: live the farm dream
The Cabin at Minka Farm: live the farm dream
Description
Make some memories at this unique, family-friendly farm cabin. Unplug, relax, enjoy the beauty &/or make it a learning experience. Help the farmer with chores, make meals with farm meats and eggs, kayak the pond, go fishing, hike through the woods on our trail, enjoy the firepit, and more! Had enough of the farm? Chapel Hill is 20 minutes, Raleigh is 45 minutes. The area is vibrant with events year-round. No parties. No smoking/vaping. No family/friend gatherings of more than 8 people total. The space Nestled on Minka Farm, a working farm that raises high welfare meats and eggs, plus clean seasonal fruit and veggies, the original settler's cabin was a hand-hewn log cabin and those rooms are now the parlor and den. The home has been remodeled several times over the years, first to a summer house and then to a year-round residence. A recent interior upgrade has made this a cozy farmhouse, perfect for a Farm-cation! Furnishings are new, the beds are comfy and the heating/AC system works well. The views and sunsets are unbelievable! Guest access Guests have full access to the first floor (the second floor is unoccupied and not accessible by guests), the pond, firepit, and areas of the farm that will be noted on a map we provide of the farm. If one of the farmers is available, you can go into the pastures with the animals and help out with chores. Other things to note If you will have been on another farm in the 2 weeks before your arrival, please freshly launder all clothing and disinfect shoes for the safety of our livestock. If you are coming from outside the USA, please let us know before booking so we can be sure it's safe for you to visit our farm. The Cabin has a unique layout as it was built in the 1800's and added onto multiple times over the years. Most notable is the fact that the second bedroom is only accessible through the master bedroom. Minka Farm is a haven for all kinds of wildlife. From hawks, hummingbirds and herons to foxes, skunks and coyotes. We have seen groundhogs, muskrats, fish, turtles, insects of many kinds, deer and more. Please do not chase or bother the wildlife, but do enjoy them, watching from a distance, and if they become a nuisance, let the host know and we will relocate them if needed.
