Description
If you’re looking for comfort, relaxation, beautiful views, and stunning stargazing, you’ve found it here at Dos Caminos Casa. Enjoy almost an acre of yard with tranquil mountain views in a traditional 120-year-old adobe home with tons of natural light, viga beams on the ceiling, heated stone floors, and colorful, artistic touches. Enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub while the Taos skies paint a canvas of rich purple, orange, and pink. Perfect retreat after a day of hiking, rafting, or skiing. The space Your open and airy casita has a bedroom, large kitchen and bar area, living and dining room, porch, patio, hot tub, and close to an acre of fenced in yard with mountain, mesa, and sunset views. The living room has an adobe fireplace, and there is a beautiful wood fire stove in the dining area as well. This is a very historic home, built in the early 1900s in the traditional adobe style - this means it is made of earth with a little bit of straw mixed in and you might sometimes find a bit of adobe dust here or there after a storm. The space has been updated with modern amenities, floor heating, and skylights. It’s the perfect mix of history, exposed viga beams, traditional adobe walls, and stone and tile floors with the modern amenities and comforts. Get cozy in the massive comfy reading nook while enjoying the breathtaking view of the high mesa, experience the unique standing slabs of flagstone in the bathroom, or enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub while the sun paints the sky aglow with color in the evening hours and the milky way comes out to dazzle you from above. Guest access There are two separate one-bedroom Casitas on our property, which are connected by a storage room that is not accessible to Airbnb guests. Both Casitas have their own private driveways on opposite sides of the property, and the yards are also completely separate on opposite sides. You'll have plenty of privacy and won't even notice anyone else is on the property most of the time. Other things to note This is a 120 year old home, and although it has been thoroughly updated, it is still an adobe structure from the early 1900s. This means that you might sometimes find some adobe dust that falls from the ceiling, there might be a crack in the adobe walls here or there, etc. Adobe buildings also have some straw in the walls. This adobe casa is extremely well maintained, but not pristine, as we believe in the New Mexican history showing through the walls of our home and we repair rather than rebuild to maintain the authenticity of the structure. Although we do not have air conditioning, the casita remains cool throughout even hot days. Adobe is a material that has been used for centuries due to its ability to naturally regulate temperature, retaining the cool air from the night during the day and the warm air from the day during the night, creating the perfect temperature inside the casita at all times. In the winters, it can get extremely cold, and you will need to know how to make a fire for additional heat, especially if there are high winds. We provide some firewood but are very grateful if you replenish some of it for the next guest. Taos is located on a high plateau, and our casita is at around 8000 feet. Some people have trouble adjusting to this altitude. Please keep this in mind when you book.
