The Office at Bergen is a guest suite nested inside a weather-worn 1950's workshop built by carpenter Roy Noel. The overall structure now houses flywheel fabelwerks (fw2) a digital design, fabrication, and restoration studio. Works in progress include, but are not limited to, the restoration of two 1966 Volkswagen beetles. Appointments of wood, metal, and industrial found objects handsomely frame your suite spot in the shop, which includes a pull out sofa, sleeping loft, cozy kitchenette, full bath, and ample creative space to make good on your time at The Office. The shop, located in a small neighborhood that is surrounded by massive pasture and farmlands, comes with access to free parking, the suite, bathroom, and a catwalk leading to a small rear deck. There's stacked fire wood to burn, and if you are itching to look in on our studio werkshop projects, just ask. Burgin, Kentucky can perhaps be considered a 'burg' of Harrodsburg (only 4 miles away) Burgin itself was originally known as "Cane Run." When you stay at the office at bergen-fw2, you're right at the headwaters of cane run creek. There is often a blue heron finding breakfast or lunch in the pond around the corner along Bailey pike. In 1874, the Cincinnati Southern Railway obtained a right-of-way from local landowner Temple Burgin and opened Burgin Station. The town was established in 1877 and incorporated in 1878. The post office opened as "Bergen" in 1877 and changed its name to "Burgin" in 1886. There is ample parking in the fenced gravel lot at the front of the office/shop. If you turn left from the lot, you wrap around to the depot, dollar general, gas, and convenience stores. If you turn right, then another right on First street, you can stroll up beautiful Bailey pike through the abundant and fruitful fields of the central bluegrass. From the office, you are 7 miles from Danville, 5 miles from Shaker Village, and 4 miles east of Harrodsburg, or 4 miles or less west of Herrington Lake. Count on internet connection being spotty. But, the local Depot restaurant is only a block away, and they offer solid eats and free wifi. Also, note that there is a picturesque 'back way' (5 miles) to beautiful Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill that you might enjoy.
