Milwaukee is home to a distinctive architectural style known as "Polish flats," found predominantly in the Riverwest neighborhood. Just west of the Milwaukee River, this location is only blocks from the Oak Leaf bike trail, with an array of independent coffee shops, roasters, restaurants, bars, and breweries all within easy walking distance. The space This lower-level unit is a tidy, uncomplicated, and comfortable garden/basement apartment with plenty of natural light. The space includes a double bed and a twin bed, a compact kitchen with a coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster oven, and hot plate (no microwave, stove, or oven), and a small dining area that doubles as a workspace. A mini fridge and a bathroom with a clawfoot tub and shower round out the amenities. Floors are cement, so pack slippers or warm socks if you'd like. Shoes are not worn inside. Please note: this unit has no television and no air conditioning. The property is smoke-free and does not allow parties. Guest access The entire lower flat is for guest use, with the exception of the storage room in the back hallway. In the furnace room (behind the blue curtain, across from the small bedroom and next to the shelf) you'll find the ironing board, broom, mop, fire extinguisher, and extra garbage/recycling bins. The thermostat is on the wall near the blue curtain; feel free to adjust the heat up, down, or off as needed. Other things to note • Please leave your shoes at the door and avoid wearing them inside. • Keep the shower curtain inside the tub to prevent water from spilling onto the floor, and use the exhaust fan to help vent steam during hot showers. • We have an indoor/outdoor cat, Verde, who lives in the upper unit. Feel free to spend time with him outdoors, but please don't let him into the lower unit. • Please close and lock all doors and windows when leaving the house. • Maximum of two guests. Unauthorized additional guests are not permitted and will incur a $50 per-guest fee.
