Exquisite apartment in Georgian Rectory
Exquisite apartment in Georgian Rectory
Description
Welcome to a magical apartment in a fantastic location. Part of a handsome Georgian rectory, it has been exquisitely refurbished. Inside it feels high-end, stylish and a little funky. Outside there's a tranquil patio. You can catch a train from Kings Cross in 3 minutes. In 10 you can walk to Bloomsbury and the British Museum. Nowhere in central London is more than 20 minutes away. Best croissants in London, 100 yards. And, yes, a day-trip to Paris is practical! The space This is an upscale apartment, generous and well-organised. More than 200 years old, it was meticulously refurbished 5 years ago. So the space is a delight. If you read the reviews you'll see many comments on the design, including: - Wow! - This is the best AirBnB ever - Beautifully renovated - It's not just another Ikea-filled Airbnb, but rather a place with wonderful design elements - This place was absolutely amazing... much bigger than we expected. Naturally cool even in a heatwave, the heating is underfloor throughout. The beautiful wooden floors are sealed with beeswax. The lighting sparkles with the best of Italian and British design. The blinds are sumptuously stylised Swedish Kvadrat linen. As to the dressing, it's a bit tranquil and Japanese, a bit Fornasetti and funky, and a bit Georgian. All the bits and pieces are of the same high quality as we use ourselves. The sitting room (and second bedroom) is generously sized, allowing four to happily dine together and watch TV together. There's a 50" LG 4K TV which has apps for all the streaming services. And we provide a fast, dedicated wifi network that is good for streaming UHD movies and playing sounds on the Sonos speaker we provide. The bedroom and patio are at the back, so there's no noise from the street to disturb your sleep. There's a gentle rumble from trains on the Thameslink line under ground, about as loud as a dishwasher, but in any case the trains don't run during the small hours. The en suite shower is tiled in a stunning metallic copper. We cook, and we love cooking in this kitchen! Partly because it's a unique, inspiring space – for example, if you look closely at the ceiling, you'll see the thousands of tiny tiles have been carefully arranged in the same vaulted pattern used in cathedrals. Partly because it's equipped with sharp knives that are sharp, a blender etc - the things a cook actually needs. And partly because it is compact and everything is to hand. A maximum of four (plus infant) can stay in the apartment and the standard price is for up to two guests staying in the king size bed in the main bedroom. Families of four are welcome and we offer a folding z-bed that can be put up in the sitting room so that the children can have separate beds. The apartment is not suitable for toddlers though. Guest access The apartment occupies an entire floor of our family home. It has its own entrance from the street and the door to the stairs that connect it with the rest of the house is locked for the duration of your stay. So you get the best of both worlds - a place that is cared for as meticulously as the rest of our home, and a place that gives you complete privacy. Other things to note For stays of 10 days or longer, we include in the price cleaning once a week, including changing the beds. You can leave your bags with us if you need to check in early or want to skip off to Scotland with a lighter pack. For Harry Potter fans, Platform 9 3/4 is across the road. And see the photos!
