The room has its own door onto the glazed terrace: table, chairs, and breakfast there without crossing the flat. Inside: a proper bamboo desk, an ergonomic mesh chair, and 519 Mbps measured Wi-Fi. The space The room is small, so we wanted to let you know now rather than on arrival. What makes it work is that it does not end at the walls: one of its two doors opens straight onto the glazed terrace, so you can take a coffee out there without walking through anyone else's morning. It is roomy for one and workable for two, and here is why two works: the bed is a trundle. There is a second single that pulls out from underneath. Leave it as one bed, pull the second out and stagger them, or push them together to sleep as a couple. You decide when you get here. The other door locks, so you can spend the day out without thinking about your things—chest of drawers, reading lamp and a rail for hanging clothes. The desk is the part guests are most surprised by. It is in the room itself, not out in the living room: a bamboo desk with a drawer, an ergonomic mesh chair, an LED bar lamp, an air purifier, a ceiling fan, and air conditioning. If you are in Madrid to work for a few days, this holds up. The terrace is glazed in, but the windows open: shut through the winter, thrown wide through the summer, so it works all twelve months rather than three. Table and chairs, shared with the flat, yours to use. It is also where the washing machine, the drying rack and the cat's litter tray live — better said now than discovered later. The bathroom is shared with the rest of the flat, but it was fully renovated: rain shower, brass basin on the counter, backlit mirror, black taps and encaustic tiles. The kitchen has character — checkerboard floor, sage green walls, wooden worktop and a red shelving unit—oven, induction hob, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, toaster and air fryer. The washing machine is out on that terrace too, next to the drying rack, which makes a real difference if you are staying more than a few days. Guest access The whole flat is yours to use — kitchen, dining table, living room with a 50-inch TV (Netflix, Prime Video and cable), and the terrace, where the washing machine is. Between us, we speak Spanish, English, Italian and Lithuanian. Message in whichever of the four suits you and we will reply in the same one. His name is Hermi, and most guests love him, but if you're allergic to cats, this is not the place for you — better to know now than on arrival. His litter tray is out on the terrace. The flat is on the sixth floor, with a lift, and it faces the inner courtyard rather than the street. The building opposite is a good way off, and there is no traffic below, which is why it is this quiet and this bright — but you won't have a street view.
