~ Re-opening summer 2024 ~ Experience a cozy cabin stay at our modernly renovated A-frame chalet nestled within the Giant Sequoia National Monument (not Sequoia National Park!). Just minutes away from some of the largest trees in the world, it's a wonderful space to relax after exploring the forest of giants. Chalet Sequoia offers a tranquil getaway with rustic charm, perfect for a couples retreat but also spacious enough to host a small family. Details below. Follow us on IG @chalet.sequoia The minute you step inside the cabin you'll enjoy the open concept space with vaulted beamed ceilings and a wall of view windows. On the main level you'll find our spacious open kitchen with bar, dining area and living area with gas fireplace. There's also a full bath and a nook off the kitchen hosting a record player, cabin manual + hiking guide and seating space. Our fully stocked kitchen with vintage appliances (fridge and gas range) offers the perfect setup to cook a delicious meal. The simple cabin kitchen does not include a microwave or dishwasher but there’s an Instant Pot as well as a slow cooker to make cooking a breeze. Essentials such as salt, pepper, vinegar, olive oil and basic spices are provided. Coffee lovers will find a drip coffee maker and Chemex to get their mornings started (ground coffee and half & half singles provided by host). There's also a selection of teas available. There's a waffle maker and skillet because pancakes and waffles just taste better in the mountains. Put on a record and cozy up in front of the fireplace taking in the views through the giant picture windows (fireplace is operated by propane, there’s no wood burning fireplace in the cabin). Intentionally, there’s no TV in the cabin offering a space to truly unplug and recharge. However, you may bring your own streaming device and connect it to our Starlink WIFi. The open concept space allows for great entertaining in a small group setting and wonderful meals will be shared around the pine wood dining table. Upstairs is a large open concept loft overlooking the living area downstairs and the windows offer beautiful forest views. There's a King bed, a small reading area, and desk. Please note the loft is not a closed off bedroom. As our guest, you'll have access to the entire cabin, except the utility room which hosts all of our supplies and washer/dryer. If you book a stay for 7+ days we will grant you access to use the washer and dryer. There's space for two cars to park in the driveway. While I won't be available in person, I am always available via AirBnB messaging and via my cell phone number provided in the cabin guide. - Our cabin is located in the charming mountain community of Ponderosa (not Springville as indicated in the address) within the Sequoia National MONUMENT, not the National Park! - The location is quite remote and it is a very windy 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours drive from the bottom of the hill until you reach the destination at 7200 ft elevation (be prepared for motion and high altitude sickness). - There's no cell service but we have Starlink high speed WIFI - There are NO gas stations, plan to fill up your car in either Springville or Kernville before heading up the mountain - There are NO grocery stores, please come prepared - There is NO trash service. All guests will have to take their trash with them or to the transfer station close to Camp Nelson. NEVER leave trash outside or in your car, it will attract bears - Due to our steep driveway, an all wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended - Snow chains and all wheel drive vehicle is REQUIRED during stays in the wintertime
