Tranquil and private and tucked away within the Royal National Park surrounding the peaceful seaside town of Bundeena, the cottage provides the perfect accommodation for couples, two families, a group of friends or mid-week away days for small businesses. "Simpson Cottage" is a heritage listed 3 bedroom, sandstone cottage built in the 1870s, it was the original home of the Simpson family; one of the first settlers south of the Hacking River, a beachfront sandstone cottage set on a large parcel of private gardens with expansive water views across to Maianbar and beyond. Throughout the cottage many original features have been retained including wrought iron, original fireplace, high timber lined ceilings, front door with the original lock and French doors The modern kitchen and bathroom have heated floors and exposed sandstone walls. Find out more on our website by searching Simpson Cottage Bundeena WE PROVIDE: Coffee and tea, linen, towels, soaps and cleaning products. ALL LINEN IS PROVIDED Kitchen linen is all hand made by the owner using rustic traditional style linen imported directly from small mills in Europe. Much of the bedding is also hand made by the owner. We use pure linen made from the finest flax grown and processed in Europe. Organic cotton towels are hand woven in Turkey by the last remaining artisans. All cleaning products provided are made in Australia and environmentally safe. All soaps provided are organic and made for Simpson Cottage in Melbourne using old world recipes and methods. You can find more information about the cottage and products on the SimpsonCottage website. BEDROOMS Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed with water views. Bedroom 2 offers the versatility of a king bed or 2 singles Bedroom 3 has 1 set of bunk beds 1 trundle and one day bed. It is a perfect house for 6 adults ot 4 adults and 4 children. THE KITCHEN AND BBQ Completely renovated the kitchen features polished concrete bench-tops, large electric oven and gas cook-top, plenty of fridge space, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine (Nesspresso pod style) and to compliment the out-door life style a large six burner BBQ is located under cover close to the kitchen. BATHROOM The spacious bathroom has under floor heating, luxury freestanding bath, large frame-less rain shower. HEATED FLOORS Both the kitchen and bathroom have polished concrete floor with under floor heating to ensure you stay warm in the winter. THE LIVING ROOM has the original working fire place. DINING area is located in the gazebo just off the veranda to take in the views and comfortably seats 8, ideal for cooler evenings or in the rain, there is also a large picnic table with magical views in the garden. GARDEN AND PLENTY OF SPACE The cottage sits in a parkland setting of 1500m/2 and private access to the beach and national park via a 100m bush track. VIEWS DAY AND NIGHT From the wide verandas you can take in the views over Simpson's Bay to Mainbar and beyond, spot playful dolphins, watch the beautiful sunsets and once the sun has set the gazebo/dining area is the perfect place to lose yourself with friends and family as you watch the twinkling lights reflecting on the water over dinner. WINTER OR SUMMER Simpson Cottage is the ideal get away. IN THE WINTER The front veranda is ideal for soaking up the sun while admiring the view and the cozy gazebo is the ideal space when it's too cold to be outside but you want to make the most of the views. OPEN FIRE PLACE The open fire is original and ideal for curling up in cozy comfort, relax in style and be transported back in time. IN THE SUMMER Cool breezes, wide verandas and private access to the beach ensure you can stay cool. BEACH AND PICNIC GROUNDS Below the cottage via the track are public picnic grounds perfect for a game of family cricket and ideal for the kids to play and amuse them selves safely GARAGE/STUDIO is set up as an extra space/retreat and is equipped with a full bathroom (no bath) and comfy sofas. It’s in here that much of the linen you will use is made. UPON ARRIVAL to start your escape you'll find tea, coffee (including coffee machine pods), milk, sugar and something sweet. PRODUCTS all our products provided are eco friendly, made in Australia or made in the traditional way using old world methods and recipes, they can be purchased during your stay or online through the Simpson Cottage website. No national park fees are incurred unless you park within the Royal National Park. Bundeena is NOT considered to be part of the park so parking is regulated by Sutherland Shire Council. There are nearby cafes and restaurants where you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner as well a bottle shop and supermarket. There is the option to self cater and utilise the new fully equipped kitchen and BBQ. For those who don't want to leave and simply escape there are plenty of options where you can enjoy the view and peace and quiet. Guest access The entire cottage and grounds are all your's during your stay. Providing escapes from the hectic life for over 10 years We are proudly an inclusive stay, and all guests of any background or community are welcome. Although our garden and some areas of the property limit our ability to host all abilities and heritage listing prevents making changes to do, so we have successfully made modifications to be able to accommodate some limited mobilities. Key collection, directions and instructions are emailed a few days prior to arrival. Arrival and departure times are flexible, fees may apply. A caretaker is available should the need arise. Other things to note Please note we share an unfenced boundary with The Royal National Park and deer are a frequent nighttime visitors to the garden. If your're lucky enough to see them please don't try and feed or approach them as an introduced specis they are a pest. Native birds and other wildlife are regular visitors, we discourage feeding them to ensure they don't become reliant on humans for survival. We stock basic pantry items including ground coffee, pods and a plunger -you choose. Bespoke black and herbal teas, salt, pepper, olive oil, hot chocolate and you will arrive to limited milk (dairy or non-dairy).
