Recently remodeled with reclaimed materials and creative design ideas, this home is very open, and a quiet contemplative space. The wooded lot sits on a dead end street and is a great place for couples or family gatherings - less than 15 minutes from Six Flags, just down the road from Labadie, the Hawthorn Inn, and very close to the many wineries and breweries in Augusta and quaint shops in Washington. There is ample parking (RV), and a large space for backyard BBQs, bonfires and gatherings. This home was originally built in 1970 and sits on almost 2 acres. It is bordered by timber and a small creek to the back. The interior has been completely remodeled using reclaimed lumber from 19th century barns and hand hewn wood structures. The stone work in the fireplace was original and made of Colorado stone and petrified wood. The other stonework in the living room, dining room and kitchen island is new and constructed of stones from all over Missouri and with some stones from my various travels across the US. The purple stones are many millions of years old and pre-cretaceous granite from the St. Francois Mountains. The majority of all the photos on the walls are from many hiking and camping trips all over the western US. Additionally, I wrote my first book in this home (Louch) and some of my documentary film was also shot here and much of the narration and editing was done in the home as well. The entire home is yours to access aside from one room on the second floor and the garage. Guests can reach me through the Airb&b I.M. and they can call me if they have any problems or concerns. I check my messages often and will respond typically within an hour. There is an extra large Jenga set in the dining room cabinet and other games as well. Extra towels are in the second floor bathroom. Please place any recycling in the outside bin and empty the trash and do the dishes before you leave. The laundry facilities are on the first floor by the rear entry and soap and dryer sheets are available. Please be sure to put the board back in the front sliding door before you leave and deadbolt the back door. Please pick up any messes you make and try to leave the place as you found it. Thanks!
