Gangles Organic Village Homestay

Gangles Homestay is located not more than 11 kms from Leh main city, situated right in the middle of village. One can easily locate it while on their way to Khardung la, the second highest motorable pass. Gangles is a small village located in the upper part of Leh Valley and an important spot amongst Amchi (local doctors) for medicinal plants. It is titled as 'Organic village of Ladakh' as all the produce is grown without using fertilizers. The space Gangles Homestay is a fusion of traditional and modern architecture, carefully designed for guests’ comfort and traditional experience. 2 storied house offers serene view of the village and locals busy in their daily activities. There is another house adjacent to the new building which is hosts' ancestral old house. Crafted traditionally the house is an example of early life lived by the Himalayan Community. There is a centuries-old underground grains storage in the fields and farming tools that were being used earlier. There is a greenhouse in the backyard of the house. Your host use to run an all veg cafe in Leh for 25 years. Listen to her stories and enjoy farm to table organic food freshly obtained from feilds. Guest access The guests can use a single bedroom setup within the house. The host provides warm blanket and amenities curated to suit a traveler's comfort. The entire linen has been handcrafted as per international hospitality standards and comforts. Your breakfast and dinner are included in the cost mentioned on Airbnb, Do note the Ladakhi houses have an Indian style shared washroom for travelers. Heating is only available in winters (Oct- March) through a local Bukhari (Fireplace) which runs only for few hours. The hosts usually cook local Indian dishes like Daal, Chapati and Vegetables for food. For any special request or local cuisine do ask the host in advanced. Do note, there is NO access to Wi-Fi in the homestay. The internet is available through Airtel and Jio mobile network only. Other things to note We provide an experiential stay which includes: 1. Cooking-traditional dishes 2. Chang tasting, local brewed barley and rice beer/wine 3. Gardening (June-September only)-Sowing, Weeding, Chamomile plucking, vegetable drying, and so on. 4.
