The Rice Block is located in the heart of historic downtown Houlton. The downtown location couldn’t be better for restaurants, shopping, walking trails, community events, and access to I-95 & HWY 1. We love the original 1897 details of the building that are coupled with all the amenities of 2024. It has all the charm of days gone by with all the utility of the modern world. The space This 2 bedroom apartment overlooks Market Square in historic downtown Houlton. The apartment has wifi, electric heat, large bathroom, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave and all cooking equipment. There are 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, dining space and large living room with a smart TV. The master bedroom has a king bed and couch while the smaller room has a dressing closet and a queen sized bed. The high ceilings and big windows allow for a very open feel to the space. While the original 1897 features like hardwood floors, trim, hardware, doors, transoms and curved wall come together to create a unique and charming atmosphere. Guest access You have the entire apartment to yourself. 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, dining area and kitchen. You enter at the street, go up the tall flight of stairs and the apartment is on the right. The hallway is shared by another apartment and several offices. Other things to note There is a Tavern located on the ground floor of the building, which is great for a end of the evening cocktail, but also has some residual noise some nights. Additionally, the apartment is on a 2nd floor and there is no elevator, there are 23 stairs to the top.
