Kayaks, swimming, fishing, sun bathing and barbecues. Pets are welcome at no additional charge! Croton Pond water frontage with a dock. This cute spacious cottage is set upon a medium bluff on Croton Dam Pond where there are year round activities to keep guests occupied. Go swimming on the hot summer days or sit with your favorite beverage by the fire as you watch the sun set over the pond. The dock is available to tie off a boat. Peaceful and open setting with a fantastic view. The space Welcome to summer fun! This home features three bedrooms with three queen beds. Two fold-down couches act as single beds. There is plenty of open living space in case weather is not ideal or to cozy up for a movie night with the kiddos. Pets are welcome! Dog tie-outs are on site. There are two kennels available along with food/water bowls. The outfitted kitchen is recently updated with gorgeous cupboards and a dining room overlooking the pond. Cooking utensils, pots, pans, silverware and dishes are in place. Coffee, tea & hot chocolate are stocked. K-cup brewer along with drip coffee, french press and stovetop percolator. (We take our coffee seriously) There are pre-ground and k-cup options as well as whole beans and a hand grinder if you would like to experience truly delicious coffee. A washer and dryer are accessed on the main level. Detergent pods are provided. There is a large smart TV in the living room and another one in one of the bedrooms. Come and enjoy! Other things that are provided include: life jackets for kids and adults. Four kayaks with paddles, outside towels for sun bathing and swimming, soaps & shampoos, all towels and linens, red solo cups, speedy wifi internet, assorted board games and playing cards, fishing stuff. Toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, cleaning supplies, etc are all well stocked. Each group can enjoy the stocked stack of firewood it is big enough for a few good campfires. Kindling, and fire starting equipment is also provided in the garage. Roasting sticks and folding chairs are also available for your use. Bring binoculars for fantastic wildlife viewing. Recent sightings have included eagles and other hawks/falcons, loons, mergansers and other duck species. Fish can be caught from the dock most of the year and worms often reside under the logs on the side of the garage. Please note that there are approximately 40 concrete steps down to the water level. Accepting bookings for the winter ice season. Ice is expected to be fishable for all of February. Perch, pike and walleye are regularly caught right in front of the cottage. Please contact the hosts about current ice conditions and to discuss tactics. When the ice is in, we are fishing!!! Ice fishing supplies are available in the cottage and will be put out for groups while ice fishing is an option. Winter is a great around the cottage. What available, we can offer early check-in, and late checkout. Guest access The front door to the cottage offers barrier free ramp access. The entire guest area is currently only the main floor. Please note that there are 39 stairs down to the water. There are two grills available. The Webber kettle has charcoal and a starter chimney. The propane grill has a spare tank ready to go in the garage. There is plenty of on site parking for at least four vehicles in the driveway. Please avoid parking on the lawn if possible. Access to one stall of the garage is included for parking or storage of your boats, ATVs, side by sides and other toys. Motorcycles are welcome and can be stored out of the rain in the garage. Travel by car to get around the area and into the City of Newaygo or to the other nearby attractions. State land and hiking trails are all around. Quick land access to other bodies of water like Hardy pond for even more fishing or boating fun. The Muskegon river offers tubing and kayak/canoe float trips as well as legendary trout fishing plus annual salmon and steelhead runs. The canoe place by the dam may have small boats with trolling motors for rent. You and your guests will have full access to the main floor of the cottage. The basement is closed off to visitors. Other things to note There is a ramp accessing the entrance to the front of the cottage for those guests who may not be able to use the stairs. Stairs are however required to access the waterfront. The trolly that goes down to the water is disabled for guests as we are not sure of the safety or liability implications of operating it. There is a lawn service that cuts every other Tuesday. The plow service clears snow as needed. Snow is cleared from the driveway and to the back stairs. Upon request, snow can be cleared to the front ramp for stair free access. The stairs down to the water for access to ice fishing are cleared when used and are generally lightly salted. Ice and snow may build up on these stairs with ice fishing traffic, and you were asked to use extreme caution when going up and down to the water. Salt and a shovel for the are provided at the garage and at the back door.
