They offer both upscale and tavern dining indoors and outdoors. There are also firepits outside, perfect for a drink. - Be sure to check out visitvermont (.com)/events before your trip. Also a firepit on the side. - HIKING: Walk towards the Hermitage Club Clubhouse (walk up the drive way, make a left and then a right at the intersection to Fannie Hill Road. That leads up and left to the Hermitage Clubhouse) and you will see a stone pathway going up the Haystack Mountain. That’s a nice and easy 40min hike up the mountain. We recommend AllTrails app to see all the trails in the area. Valley Trail, Hoot Toot and Whistle Trail in Wilmington, also Haystack Mountain trail from the Chimney Hill side are popular trails - LAKES: MIRROR LAKE at the bottom of the Haystack Mountain is a nice and small lake to enjoy for swimming. It’s a private lake so please keep off the indoor areas but you can enjoy the lake otherwise. To get there, make a left at the driveway, another left at the intersection on Fannie Hill Road and walk straight, you’ll see the Gatehouse for Hermitage Club and the lake next to it. Technically they belong to the Chimney Hill development but they are always open and available. We go to Stratton Tennis Club, it’s 25 minutes away but would be worth the drive if you’re a more serious player, looking for an indoor court, a camp or lessons. -FLYFISHING: vermontflyfishers (.com) has multiple locations in the area for flyfishing, locations and types of fish change depending on weather and season. -Cross Country Skiing, ice skating and snow shoeing: Rentals available at the Hermitage Inn, there’s also an outdoor ice skating rink setup in the winter. -MOUNT SNOW. We recommend buying passes ahead of time and going up from Carinthia at Mount Snow, instead of the Main Face which gets very crowded. Mount Snow also has a lot of events off season, especially in the Fall. RESTAURANTS, West Dover: - HERMITAGE INN: The Inn has new owners as of 2021 and they spared no expense for the renovations and landscaping. It’s a beautiful place to check out whether for just a drink, lunch or dinner. Tavern Menu has the all-time favorites like burgers, grilled cheese etc. - THE LAST CHAIR – Family, casual with an arcade and outdoor seating. There is also an ice cream truck in front. If it’s full try Black Diamond Grill right next door, same owner, smaller menu, usually no wait. The do not take reservations. - TRAIL 87: Last Chair can be very busy, especially in winter. Right next door, Trail 87 is a great alternative. There is also A1 Coffee inside which is a cute little coffee shop from Wilmington. - SAWMILL INN: Upscale dining, indoor and outdoors, the building is a historical farm turned into a charming inn. They also have a pool. - Betsey’s DOTS of Dover: Diner in town - STICKY FINGERS: If the line is too long at Dot’s or you just want to grab and go, delicious bakery and a quick breakfast right across from Dot’s. - NORTH STAR PIZZA: Only DELIVERY available in town - NOMAD CHEFS: They’re, as the name suggests, nomads.
