Description
You will love this peaceful redwood retreat nestled in the majestic redwoods! The space is attached to the main house, but fully separate with it's own entrance - perfect for 1-2 people, with a 14'x14' bedroom, Queen bed, coffee/microwave/mini fridge, tub/shower. Read "Show more" below - there are 2 required communications to make/keep a reservation! There is wifi but no TV or stereo, and access to the property is tricky. TOT # 3190N Permit #THR17-0394 The space IMPORTANT: • 1st required communication: When booking or requesting to book, message me to say that you've "Read & agree to the House Rules + Additional Rules #1-16" (to find them, scroll to the very bottom of the listing, and click on "Show more >" under House Rules). • 2nd required communication: Within 48 hours of booking, guests must read the House Manual AND message me with the parking address - your reservation may be cancelled if you skip this step. I know it's all a lot to read, but from past experience I've learned it's best to make sure guests know about any quirks or potential difficulties well ahead of time! =) ------- About the Space: The internet here isn't particularly fast; it's usually quite reliable, and I find it perfectly adequate for streaming a movie on my computer or for making Facetime video calls, but every now and then it can be a bit glitchy. Please note the following are still works in progress: - Trim & doors all still need to be painted (they're primed only right now). - Exterior is as shown in the photos but usually with wood stacked at the shed; the shed that you see, may or may not get prettied up before your visit - that project is time & weather allowing! The bedroom has 2 chairs a small side table as a seating area, and an armoire for clothes storage. The 2 locked closets in the hall are not for guest use. In the hall there is a microwave, mini fridge, hot water kettle, water filter (even though the tap water here is very good!), pour-over coffee filter, and freshly ground coffee provided. Usually I'll put a small amount of organic cream or half-n-half in a jar in the mini fridge for your use too. There's are sometimes some remodel-related materials stored under the bed, but still with plenty of room to put suitcases under there if desired. Guest access The bedroom has it's own entrance, and a short hall connecting it to the bathroom; the entire area is private for your use only while you're here. My kitchen is adjacent and does share a wall, but the sound insulation is excellent as it's a double stud sound wall! There are 2 connecting doors at the hall that are both locked & blocked to separate the spaces, one goes to my hall/kitchen and one goes to a storage room. The closest "street" parking is up the hill, it's a dirt pull-aside, and the path down to the house is relatively steep with un-lit rough dirt/gravel steps (about 30 of them), it does still have a little slope and can be slick (esp. when it's wet), so you'll need to wear good hiking shoes and be sure-footed if you're renting the space! Note that the steps are NOT part of my property so not much I can do about them. They do not have a handrail. There's a small covered deck area at your entrance to sit and enjoy meals or a beverage, or just enjoy the forest. It also looks across the main deck (which is also the entrance to the house) & the firewood shed, which most winter mornings (and thru the day) I make a few trips to. Note that neighbor's properties can be seen from the deck; please see photos for a panorama taken from that spot. I use the main deck area sometimes, and you're also welcome to use it. I also occasionally bbq or share a drink on the main deck with a friend or two, feel free to join us if you like! Keep an eye out this summer for our two neighborhood Gray Fox kits (now more like adolescent age)! They sometimes wander thru the deck & yard around dusk/night/dawn if nobody is out there. Please don't feed or approach them, but consider yourself lucky if you get to see these shy native foxes. =) Other things to note • Guests must read the House Manual (available on AirBnB to registered guests) within 48 hours of booking - it gives specific directions on where to park & how to find the place. Once you've read it, message me with the parking address so I know you won't have any problems finding the place. • As noted above, access to my property can be difficult! Please keep that in mind if you book it. • Access to get to the property is via about 30 unlit gravel/dirt steps, NOT on my property and more akin to hiking rather than to "proper" steps. • The closest parking spot at the top of the steps isn't always available - there is info on alternate spots in the House Manual (available o AirBnB to registered guests). • You will likely not get cell phone reception in this area unless you have Verizon, and even then it may be spotty. If you have wifi calling enabled on your phone, once you sign into the wifi you should be fine; if you don't have either, I recommend getting a wifi calling system that can both send and receive calls set up before your visit. • 2 people maximum occupancy (plus a child under 2), no other guests or visitors allowed, and 1 car maximum allowed (all per county regulations). • No parties or guests, no outdoor amplified noise - please enjoy the quiet & peaceful forest instead! =) • Earliest check-in is 2, but if you'd like to drop your bags off early contact me, usually that can be arranged. • No camping or sleeping on the deck. • No fires (including bbq) are allowed. Candles inside the space are OK (and I provide some for your use); just never leave them burning unattended. • County regulations are quiet hours from 10pm to 7am; the area is usually pretty quiet at other times too, but of course I can't guarantee no noise at any time! =) • Note that I'm not on acreage; my lot is about a standard city lot size with neighbors around, but thanks to the slope & the forest environment, it feels fairly private & with lots of nature & redwoods. • AirBnB will automatically add 12% Sonoma County Occupancy tax to your reservation for TOT certificate #3190N
