Welcome to the Bay House -- our beachfront bay house with a gorgeous sandy beach that is only available a few weeks a year to those guests who are willing to take as good care of it as we do. Only 1:15 from DC and northern Virginia, and 10 minutes away from charming Solomon’s Island, it is the perfect spot for a relaxing vacation with no crowds. Have a fire on the beach, fish, and launch your kayak/SUP right from the beach! The space Stroll down the lawn right onto a beautiful sandy beach where you can kayak, paddle board, swim, build sandcastles, have a fire, stargaze, or just relax on our comfy chaise loungers or Adirondacks. Watch for resident bald eagles, herons and other wildlife on the property. There’s nothing quite like it within 1:15 minutes from Northern VA and DC. Our house is fully renovated and there is a lovely screened in porch for dining and lounging as well as a new patio with a fire table where you can take in the spectacular view. On the main floor, there is the master bedroom with a luxurious king bed and en suite bath, another bedroom with a full size canopy bed, a hall bathroom with tub, and a charming tiny bedroom with a mini twin ideal for someone under 5’4”. On the lower level there is another large bedroom with a queen bed and gorgeous views, a fourth bedroom with a twin bed and desk, and another full bath with a roomy shower. Cook delicious meals with local produce and seafood from the farmers market in our gourmet kitchen or on the Weber grill (we have virtually every kitchen tool you can imagine). Make s’mores in the fire pit (bring your own wood). Go paddling on the bay with the guest kayaks and SUPs. Play bocce, badminton or corn hole, fish from the beach, and go crabbing. The house has all the equipment you need. If you’d like to venture out, Calvert Cliffs state park is only 5 miles away with terrific hikes to a beach where you can look for shark teeth. Solomons Island is within 10 minutes with great restaurants, fishing charters, boat/jet ski rentals, the Calvert County Maritime Museum, the Ann Marie Sculpture Garden, and more! Quaint Leonardtown with cute shops and one of our favorite restaurants is within 30 minutes. You won’t run out of things to do and there will be no crowds to battle or Bay Bridge to cross. Our house comes with 3 bikes and helmets, a single kayak, a sit on top double kayak, two SUPs and life jackets (adult and child sizes) for guest use at their own risk. Please note that no pets of any kind are allowed on the property because of host allergies. In addition, community members can use the beach but it is usually very quiet. In addition, there are 2 outdoor cameras (one front and one in the back). Guest access All spaces other than the right closet in master bedroom. Other things to note Closets downstairs do have a few items in them. They can still be used by guests though.
