Welcome to Fairwinds Cottage! You will be staying in the cottage that is attached to the back of our 1902 home. We are located in the historic district, one block from the square in charming downtown Troy, Ohio. You will find great restaurants and shopping, as well as a variety of hiking and biking trails nearby. There are two dedicated parking spaces for guests. Troy is on a train route and trains are required to blow their horns for safety. The space Welcome to Fairwinds Cottage where you will feel the love behind every intentional detail. Curl up in the cozy queen bed or relax and read on the comfy sofa in the livingroom. If you are traveling with family or friends, there are doors to both rooms with an adjoining hallway, which allows for private sleeping. The bedroom has room darkening curtains in case you want to sleep in! The kitchen is equiped with a full size fridge, double sink, microwave, crockpot, kurig coffee maker, electric tea kettle, induction burner, toaster, pots pans, dishes, flatware, glasses, mugs and cooking utensils. If what you need is not covered in the list, just ask, we probably have it! Guest access Private entry located to the rear of house. Take the ramp to the first door on the left with the doormat that says " glad you're here!" If you would like to check in early, 1pm or later , it can be arranged for a fee of $25. Please message me to enquire. Other things to note Note Regarding Heat and A/C: This is an older home and the thermostat for the heat and air are in the main house. We expect and are happy, to adjust the temperature for the comfort of our guests. Shari stays up until about 10 pm most nights and is available by text to change the settings . Noise Note: Troy is on a busy rail line that passes several locations within town. It is impossible to stay in the historic part of Troy and not hear the trains😏. Because they pass through residential areas, they are required to sound their horns for safety. It can be a nuisance to hear the horns at night but we have become accustomed to them. Some of our guests have been disturbed by the horns during the night but many guests find them charming and a part of living in the midwest. We do have new windows that muffle the sound a bit and we offer earplugs for guests that are light sleepers.
