Welcome to Beals Island, a place where the main occupation is still lobster fishing. Sunset Rental is my childhood home. It is a 1 1/2 story Cape style house, built in the 1950's that is situated nearby the sea, and has a view of breathtaking sunsets. For the times you may just want to stay at the rental to relax there's a BBQ grill and an outside cooker for lobsters. Fifty yards from the house is Barney Cove Lobster, who sells to the public for those who may want to purchase some. And why not a game of Corn Hole, Lawn Darts, Croquet or Bocce Ball while relaxing in the backyard? Also lots of books to choose from, board games, card games and yes I even purchased a poker set along with the chips for those who may want to up the ante, so to speak. And for those who may want to take a little tour on the island roads, I have a bicycle built for two. I do not however have helmets. Beals has a Town Landing with public parking one mile away from my rental for those of you who may travel with kayaks. Free Parking. I live approximately a mile from the rental. If you need anything at all, I'm just a phone call or text away. If you like to visit Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor to hike or cycle but also want to visit places like Lubec, Campobello Island and Eastport, this location works very well because it's right in between. Beals Island is connected by a causeway to another island known as Great Wass which has a Nature Conservancy Preserve of 1400 acres and a 38 acre park in the Backfield, both with walking trails that lead to the ocean. Wonderful places for picnics. If you travel with kayaks, you can set off at the Town Landing, about a mile from my rental, which has public parking. Five miles away 187 East, on a country road (no traffic lights) is a beautiful long sand beach with ample public parking. If you're looking to get away for simple relaxation, this is the place for you. Ten miles away is the Barren View Golf Course located at 1354 US-1 in Jonesboro. It's a 9 hole course with a 4.6 rating.
