KIGI MOKU MOKU is a host-style home located in Kosasamachi, Sasebo City, about 20 minutes by car north of downtown Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, facing the abundant sea at the westernmost tip of Japan. Having lived here for 50 years, the trees in the yard have grown large and envelop the house that was rebuilt 20 years ago. When the morning sun rises, the birds begin to chirp, the crickets begin to sing, and shadows are cast on the wet edges. When the sun sets, the sky is full of stars, and on moonlit nights, you can see the shadow of the Buddhist priest. You'll be able to slowly feel the time change throughout the day. There is a barrel sauna in the corner of the private garden. Enjoy the outdoors in the garden at your leisure. Breakfast is served with fresh local ingredients. Dinner is optional. It's also fun to visit the host's recommended neighborhood shops. The host will help you with your trip from a moderate distance. Please use it as a base for your trip with friends and family. The space The first floor of the main house has a living and dining room (15 tatami 24 ㎡) and a tatami mat room (10 tatami 16 ㎡), 2 bedrooms (Japanese-style room 7.5 tatami 12 ㎡/Western-style room 10 tatami 16 ㎡), a bathroom, and a sauna in the garden. With the support of the host, guests can use the space at their own pace. The kitchen is not open, but the tatami mat room is equipped with a kettle and a refrigerator for your exclusive use. If you'd like to cook, please apply separately to use the kitchen in the separate building. Guest access Feel free to use the first floor of the main house, excluding the kitchen and pantry, and the garden with sauna. The second floor is a private space. Please refrain from entering. Other things to note This facility is also the home of the host. We're here to help you stay at a comfortable distance from each other. Please bring your own disposable toiletries, such as toothbrushes and razors, as they are not provided. To prevent infection, we ask that men also sit when using the toilet. The garden surrounded by trees is home to many wild birds, small animals, and insects. You may encounter creatures that may make you feel uncomfortable. Please understand this before booking. Please enjoy eating and drinking in the living room or garden. Please refrain from eating and drinking in the bedroom as much as possible. Please enjoy smoking on the veranda or in the garden. Linens such as sheets and pillow covers will not be changed during your stay. Please use the coin-operated laundry in the neighborhood. This facility is not deep in the mountains, nor is it on a remote island, but is in a village. Please refrain from doing anything that may disturb the neighbors.
