Traditional Norwegian cabin in the mountains, on island Stord, in outer Hardanger fjord in Norway. Without electricity and running water. The space This is for you who want to live easily in nature. Experience the silence. Just the sound of the river, the birds and the wind. Parking, key and the hike to the cabin: The walk up to the lodge starts from Highway 545 on the island's west coast. There is some local buses, otherwise it's easy and free to park your own car. You get a map and keycode at the parking lot, before your hike. It's easy to find the lodge. Waterproof rubber boots are absolutely recommended. Then you will surely get more pleasure from your hike up, and your stay around the cabin and by the river will also be much more pleasant for you. And back sack to carry your luggage in. We can normally help you with waterproof rubber boots and backpacks if you don't have yourself. You have to bring your own food and drink. Drinking water is available near the cabin. Halfway through the hike, there are some steep slopes, and a new communal cabin where you can breathe and enjoy the view, before the last and easiest part of the trip. All in all, it's an easy walk, but often quite wet. On the hike and at the cabin, you will not meet other tourists. The chance to meet people at all, is small. This lodge located entirely for themselves, and there are no neighbors. Only nature. If you follow the trail further into the mountain in 30 minutes, you come to 3-4 other small private cabins that rarely used by locals. At the lodge you will find a comprehensive folder with useful information like maps with haiking recommendations, everything about the cabin and the place. Clean bedlinen and towels is also ready for you. NB! Being in Norwegian nature and in a mountain cabin built of wood requires focus on fire safety. You can find blueberries in the area, cranberries and opportunity to find chanterelle. FISHING Fishing is popular here. There are many small and big mountainlakes. These are tied together with waterfalls, rivers and streams, all of which are full of small trout. Everyone can fish for free. To catch small trout in the river, you need maggots or worms for bite. In the mountains is hard to find worms. Anyway, worms can be purchased by the host (5 Euro) or picked by yourself before you go up to the lodge. Simple fishing equipment for fishing trout in the river is available for free at the lodge. Some guests have actually caught 110 pieces of trout on some days. For fishingfor in a mountain lake, please bring your own fishing gear. The fishing season is from May two October. Outside of this period it is not possible two catch fish The cabin is from the early eighties, and is about 45 square metres. It's a typical Norwegian tradition cabin, such as the cabins were 40 years ago. Very cozy and a dream for many today to experience cabin coziness in classic style. It`s mainly used by the host and his family. It is normally quite cold in the cabin when you arrive, since the only option for heating is a wood stove and fireplace. The toilet is a simple and decent outhouse, also with panoramic views over the countryside. If you want luxury, new and modern furniture and interior design, this is not the place for you. We live with a completely opposite ideology. With a greater purpose and meaning in life and for our planet. Beds: One bedroom is available. Bunk bed with 120x200 and 75x200 mattresses. Floor mattress 75x200 to have in the living room or outside on the terrace. All the necessary equipment for cooking and serving is available. Hot food is made on the wood stove. Outdoor shoes not allowed inside. If you not traveling with your own car, we can provide transportation from the ferry dock in Sandvikvåg to the parking spot "Dalshaugane". (Price 30 Euro). If you want to ride around in the lowlands a while, we also have bicycle rental. €15 for three days.(It is not possible to cycle up to the cabin). If you rent the cabin for several days, and wish you down to civilization a time, you are welcome to use the port and the boats in the big lake, name "Storavatnet". An hour's walk from the lodge. Norway and Western Norway is famous for its breathtaking scenery and spectacular fjords. The closest major airport is Bergen Airport. On the island of Stord is also a small airport with daily flights to and from Oslo. From Denmark Fjord Line daily ferry to Kristiansand, Stavanger or Bergen. Holland Norway lines to Kristiansand are also recommended. Stord is an island outermost Hardangerfjorden, two hours from Bergen. About 20,000 people living on the island. Hospitals and all other basic support services are close by. Medical assistance Stord is open 24/7. Middle of the island of Stord consists of wild mountain areas, with peaks of up to 750 meters above sea level with beautiful views. In area's many hiking paths and trails that makes migration of this nature even easier. Here is an abundance of bird and wildlife. Deer, hares, eagles and other birds are a common meeting here. The area has large and fascinating climatic variations during the year. In winter, temperatures can go down to minus 15, it may be snow, and mountain lakes are frozen. On hot summer days around 30 degrees plus, and the water in the river close to the cabin can have a nice bath temperature of over 23 degrees, between 4 pm and 6 pm. Anyway, Norways Westcoast is known for a lot of precipitation in the form of rain. You get more enjoyment from nature by bringing rain clothes and waterproof boots. Biting midges, from about 15 June to 15 October. This bastard can be anoyes at humid and windless days. Not dangerous, just annoying. Ticks and viper can be found in the area but not heard anyone who has been infected by them. Also light varies. In winter there is daylight only 6-7 hours, in summer 18 to 19 hours. This area has a national approved sustainable destination, certificate. In 2022, the area will also be under the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. There is good mobile coverage in total area. Welcome.
