A registered protected historic building, this one-bedroom accomodation is a unique stay. Renovated by aki(architects), this 120 year old Kura (a traditional store-house) was used by a merchant family to keep their valuable belongings. With views towards Mt. Kosho and surrounded by a Japanese garden, it’s perfect for a 2-3 person getaway. The space Located in the quiet Akizuki corner, Casa-Kura is a one-room space with double bed, dining table, private shower room, kitchen and a loft space with an extra futon. The architectural renovation was carried out by aki(architects), a studio led by architects with experience at the renowned Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA. Guest access Please access the house through the address indicated, and follow up the step-by-step check-in in your Airbnb app. Private parking is available off-site, 50 metres away (map available upon request). Other things to note Casa-Kura is part of the Akizuki Project, led by Kerry Greer along with his daughter Hana and her partner Héctor (both architects and founders of aki(architects), based in Akizuki). The project aims to attract new families to the area and increase enrollment at the local public school. By staying in this house, you are supporting our community efforts to revitalize Akizuki through initiatives such as the annual Filmfest Akizuki, local urban and architecture workshops, and exciting future projects like the Akizuki Brewery, which will provide jobs for new families; a public sento (traditional bathhouse) where travelers and locals can meet; a bike rental shop to help you explore the town with ease — and much more to come!
