Oberlin apartment (upstairs) - Walk to everything
This bright upstairs apartment--one bedroom with queen bed, one with a single-each with work space--is 3 blocks from Oberlin College. *Please note that our college student is the property manager, so we may not reply to your inquiry immediately, but will be back to you within 12 hours.* Full kitchen, with 3 grocery stores close by, but you can walk to 11 restaurants. Some accessibility details: There are 14 steps to enter the unit. They are steep & narrow. When the house had servants who lived in the dormer bedroom, they somehow got up these stairs. If mobility is an issue, please consider our ground floor unit instead. You'll come up the steps into a hallway. Full bath to your left, bedroom in front of you. Down the hall, kitchen & dining are at your left, with a bedroom across. These 3 rooms, plus full bath, are the apartment. (It does not include the space behind the door marked 'Do Not Enter'...for safety reasons, we can't lock you out of this hallway, so be aware that I'll get an alert if you open the door & the fire department may respond.) We live in this house when you're not using it, and spend time in California as well. While we won't likely meet, we'd love to hear your comments on how we're doing at the endless project of updating this old house to be convenient and comfortable. This home is a 3 minute walk from a world-class art museum, the Allen. Around the town square you'll find 3 concert halls, a theater and a 'chapel' (Finney Chapel is roughly the size of the average cathedral in the Americas) hosting cultural events, concerts and performances. All of this is within 10 minutes' walk, as are a dozen fabulous (and a handful of serviceable) restaurants. Oberlin doesn't have much night life; it does have access to a 19 mile bike trail connecting downtown Elyria (try the diner on the square) to a brewery in a grain elevator in Wakeman, Ohio. The block is mixed family rentals and owner-occupied. Please keep in mind that your neighbors mostly work 7am-3pm shifts, if you're outdoors enjoying the backyard. One parking space is included with the rental. But really, you don't need a car to enjoy everything Oberlin has to offer--in fact, you'll find it tough to park anyplace outside the driveway! The IGA is a short walk or bike ride away. The driveway has shared use, so if you bring a car, please pull it all the way up and to one side. In the event that someone drops you, please use your space. Local tip: Never, ever leave a car parked over the sidewalk in Oberlin--the town police really have so little to do, they will send an officer to ticket for this infraction.
