Description

Welcome to our century-old cottage, set in the lush gardens of our historic home in Miami's Historic Shenandoah. It is located a short walk away from the center of Little Havana and a direct free trolley ride to "Brickell" in downtown Miami. Comfortable king bed, wifi, smart TV, modern bathroom & kitchen. It's the perfect central base to explore Miami. The space ***Please read through entire listing description before booking.*** We welcome you to experience this tropical oasis in the heart of Miami! Our cottage sits on a third of an acre which is mostly the gardens -- it is a uniquely large property given its location near downtown Miami. It can comfortably accommodate two people and is nicely situated behind the main house, allowing for peaceful, private enjoyment of the gardens, away from the main street. The lighting is great with both natural -- there are windows on 3 of the 4 sides -- and internal recessed lighting. There are no separate bedrooms within the cottage: it is one large space, with a kitchenette (large fridge) and full bathroom. The french door entryway adds a charming touch and additional natural light. The best feature of the cottage is the lovely space surrounding it: spacious gardens with beautiful trees and flowers. You are welcome to explore the old coral garden and grotto. There are plenty of outdoor sitting areas in the shade of the trees. Guest access Access to the cottage is through the main aqua-colored gate. Guests approach the cottage, which sits behind the main house, through the north side. The path is now finally paved with clay brick pavers, so you can roll your luggage for most of the way. Guests are able to enjoy the sunken coral garden on the south side. Plenty of free street parking is available. Other things to note Often times we are able to accommodate same-day requests - send us a message! Our cottage, garden, and main house are a work in progress. If what you seek is modern luxury, this may not be the place for you... The cottage is very old (built 1925), and although evidence of its history is more charming than not, there are some minor repairs we have not gotten around to (exterior paint needs upgrade in some spots, some cracks on the floor...). For tree and plant enthusiasts, you will love your stay. Enjoy the garden and all our fruit trees! We have one tree that bares poisonous fruit (Ackee), so just don't eat that one (we can give you a tour of the trees). --- No laundry machines in cottage; laundromat two blocks away. Early check-in and late check-out are often available -- please check with us, and we will do our best to accommodate you!
