Adjacent to a lively working fishing port that boasts the best seafood dining on the island. You will find within walking distance local pastry and coffee shops, an artisan hand crafted gift shop, a historic church, ice cream parlor, grocery store, whaling museum and access to the pier. You can even dunk in the ocean among the locals. This renovated studio apartment comes equipped with compact appliances in the kitchen and a full bath with shower. Large bed and one bunk bed. The convenient studio has been completely remodeled with all the modern amenities. Very private, clean, secure, and decorated with hand painted tile art by one of our local artists. It is truly an authentic cultural experience in the finest surroundings. From the spacious balcony you can gaze the majestic expanse of the Azorean sky, and notice how rapidly it changes throughout the day. The cloud formations are quite amazing but what I find the most thrilling are the rainbows, that stretch across the Island sky, from end to end...truly spectacular! From the east facing terraces you can witness the day begin with a brilliant sunrise over Mount Brasil. Watch the explosion of water color paint the sky orange, red, pink, violet, blue and lavender. Utterly breathtaking. Local festivals right on the port, fishing, swimming, restaurants, coffee shops and local bakeries, grocery shopping, gas station, gift shop, bars, dancing, ice cream, old church, local fare and the most amazing skies all can be easily accessed, and experienced here. Elsa our caretaker will welcome you, give you the keys, and a tour of the house to answer any questions you might have. We also have a local tour guide available upon request. The locals are very friendly and helpful. I'm related to almost the whole village therefore you will be welcomed as family guests. Many generations of our family has been working in this picturesque fishing port dating back to the late 1400s. Everything you need is within walking distance and the views are so beautiful. I love to sit on the terrace with a cup of tea watching the colorful little boats going in and out to sea. The port is alive and bustling at times. There is a local bus that goes around the Island twice per day but I highly recommend renting a car. We have parking and we get a discount with a rental company at the airport.
