"Pawnee Reverie," Hollywood Hills, Old Forge

Welcome to our simple, peaceful home, minutes from the quaint village of Old Forge & perfectly located near all the fun & beauty of the Southern Adirondacks. Enjoy four seasons of outdoor wonder while allowing us to do our best to help you feel at home at our "Pawnee Reverie." Our home provides guests with easy access to lakes, streams, paddling sites, mountains (to climb, bike, ski, gaze from) walking trails, cross-country trails, snowmobiling fun, and so much more. Treat yourself! The space THE SPACE The home has 2 full bedrooms and 2 full baths - plenty of space for a family or for a couple or two. The master bedroom includes a king-sized bed, a giant TV, a walk-in closet, and an attached bathroom. The second bedroom includes a queen-sized bed and another giant TV and a bathroom across the hall. There's a fully-equipped kitchen with new appliances and a dining table in the kitchen nook. There's a living room with a big screen TV, bar, and peaceful views which often include ADK wildlife. The living room also has a pull-out couch that can be used for a young guest (a child). Outside the house, you will enjoy a yard, a wrap-around deck, and a side fire pit with tandem rocking chairs. Parking is on-site in the driveway or in front of the house. Guests wishing to stay a season, please contact owners. INFO ON BRINGING ALONG A DOG One dog, non-shedding, and under 25 pounds will be considered with documentation of up-to-date vaccination records. We would ask that the dog always be attended to in the house or crated and that he/she be kept off the furniture. If a crate is needed to accommodate rules (keeping your sweet pup off the furniture), we can provide one with sufficient time to plan. An additional cleaning fee of $35 per day up to $120 a stay will be assessed in advance of your stay to cover costs for additional cleaning. FOR SNOWMOBILERS AND WINTER GUESTS We are right near Trail 4 (a snowmobile trail that sledders love) and other popular trails to explore. We have blocked 4 months -- from Dec. 1 to March 30 - for a seasonal rental. Please reach out if you would like to talk about a 3 to 4-month rental. If there is no seasonal rental by Oct. 1, the block will be removed for shorter-term guests. _______________________________________________________________ A few more odds and ends: ADK is bear country! More info will be shared with guests before arrival about ensuring for safety - both for the bears and the human guests. :) Regarding sheets: The two bedrooms will have clean sheets on the beds for guests when they arrive. The pullout couch has a queen mattress and there will be a set of queen sheets in the closet for guests using the sofa bed. (If guests wish to bring their own sheets, they will need king sheets for the master bedroom and queen sheets for the main bedroom.) Regarding towels: We have house towels but not beach towels. Summer guests are kindly asked to bring their own beach towels. Info for summer guests: Typically, we do not use an air conditioner in the summer. The average temp in Old Forge in the summer is 74 degrees high and 53 degrees low and air conditioners are not needed for the most part. If guests want an air conditioner installed for their stay, we can make arrangements. Please contact owners for further information. Info for winter guests: Our driveway is plowed and accessible for parking, however, the driveway is steep and a 4WD or AWD vehicle is best in icy or snowy conditions. Regarding accessing the side door, we will have a path shoveled to the entrance. If it snows during your stay, please, for your safety, use the shovel and ice melt in the container below the stairs. Winter conditions in Old Forge and throughout the region require extra caution. Further house rules will be shared with guests before arrival. Feel free to reach out with any questions in the meantime. Guest access Guests can enjoy countless activities, some of the most popular including Enchanted Forest Water Safari (1 mile), Bald Mountain (3 miles), McCauley Mt for downhill skiing or summer and fall scenic tours (4 miles), Fulton Chain Craft Brewery (1.1 miles) and too many to name trails to traverse and mountains to climb. The Old Forge Visitor Info Center's website provides many ideas, too, for those traveling to the area. Beaches: As our guests, you can enjoy a semi-private beach on First Lake. You also can visit the Old Forge Pond (which opens up to First Lake). Both beaches are within a couple of miles and both allow for swimming as well as launching and docking of boats. (Feel free to inquire in regards to docking.) If you'd like a non-motorized body of water for recreation, Nick's Lake (just under 5 miles) is a smaller lake that doesn't allow motorized boats and has a terrific playground for the kids. Cascade and Moss Lakes are also great options. Other things to note We ask that no more than five guests stay in the house. If you wish to have an additional guest, please speak with us in advance. An extra guest fee will apply, except for infants and small children.
