Secluded Beach Cabin on Historic Discovery Bay
Experience healing and peace with the sound of gentle waves on Discovery Bay. Our cabin was built in 1939 by our grandfather who was an early businessman in Port Townsend. He wisely recognized for decades to come this would be a prized place of rest, enjoyed by 5 generations. Our two kayaks for beginners and new paddle board are available for rent. Explore the unbelievable beauty of the Olympic National Park just a few miles away featuring hiking to rainforests, glaciers, and mountain lakes. The space The Cabin rests on a mid Bank Bluff 70 ft directly above the water. Customized and newly constructed stairs lead to your 12x25-ft Deck with chairs and a canopy. The cabin is 500 square feet with new roof and plumbing. Our rustic well loved cabin features a kitchen including a propane gas grill on the porch, 3/4 bath, a small bedroom, a queen size Tempur-P in the main room with breathtaking views. Add fresh coffee and you'll create a wonderful and memorable get away. Knotty blue stained Pine, a mid-century Style fireplace and an original booth from the old Lands End Restaurant in Port Townsend makes this cabin quaint and cozy. Guest access Guests will park at an angled designated spot at the top of the driveway. All guests have access to the beach with our newly constructed stairs and deck. The beach comes with chairs and old school State Park Grill for hot dogs crab or s'mores. Our two adult size beginner "sit in" kayaks with paddles and life jackets are available for $50 for each kayak per day with a signed waiver. Feel free to arrange any of the plastic chairs or no gravity lounge chairs to your liking and return them to the original spots. Please be aware we practice social distancing and both properties share beach access. Both water and electricity are available on the deck on the beach. Please check with us before starting Beach fires. You must find your own wood on the beach and fires must be always attended and thoroughly extinguished. Other things to note Please refer to our guidebook. If you are traveling with another couple remember you may want to take a look at our Sunset Suite on Discovery Bay located on our same property. Just to be clear, our cabin has a queen bed in the main living area and a single bed in the second bedroom, both featuring new foam hybrid mattresses. There are two portable very comfortable cots stored underneath the small bedroom if needed. In December 2023 we have installed a brand new passive 220 heater and have also included to other small wall heaters which keeps our cabin much more comfortable in colder weather! But it is a cabin and it's on the water, and sometimes with the wind is a bit drafty... which makes it a bit more romantic we think! (we think the fire with provided for our burning logs make it even better) Within a couple of hours the Olympic mountains with all of its trails and lakes, and the Black Ball Ferry to Victoria from Port Angeles and Hurricane Ridge are all accessible.
