If guests would like the pool warmer throughout their stay, we can send over the simple instructions on how to increase pool temperature for a small fee ($15/day) to help with propane usage. The main driveway can accommodate up to 3-4 vehicles, and the back driveway can accommodate up to another 4-5 vehicles. DO WE HOST WEDDINGS, EVENTS OR SHOWINGS? -Yes! However, we do not provide any wedding services, catering services, or equipment for the wedding or event. Also a few things to consider: * For liability purposes, we require a $2,000 deposit for each event. Deposit will be returned after the event assuming no property damage has occurred or excessive cleaning is needed. * Quiet hours are after 9pm. Absolutely no loud music or noises after 9pm. Zero tolerance - If this rule is violated, guests will be asked to leave the house immediately. This applies to all guests. * We allow a max of 30 people on the property, and a max of 22 to sleep at the house. * We are not a typical event venue, and are not licensed or insured to host large events past 9pm. However, we will work with you the best we can to host you for your event and make it special, so please work with us :) JARVIS HOMESTEAD TO ACADIA NATIONAL PARK? -The house is located in beautiful Ellsworth Maine, which is the gateway to the Downeast region and is about a 20 min drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. Charles and Mary Ann Jarvis Homestead ~ Wikipedia - - - ----- OUR HOME LAYOUT ---- Jarvis Homestead is a very special and historical place in the Downeast region of Maine. Over 200 years, the >7,500 sqft that makes up the home has been immaculately cared for. The design of the home is perfect for large groups - not only are there plenty of bedrooms but also several living rooms and common areas. We have layouts of the home in the listing photos. The house is located right off Main St (which can sometimes get busy during peak hours) and provides guests with an easy walk to the beautiful Union River (2 min walk) and lovely downtown Ellsworth (4 min walk). The house consists of two different sections: 1) The main house, built in 1828, oozes character and showcases the grand design and unique architecture 2) The “cottage” area, an addition of the house that is directly connected to the main house and gives more of a backwoods, cozy Maine cabin feel FIRST FLOOR: Consists of the gorgeous double parlor living rooms (one with a 70” smart TV), the peaceful sun porch for morning coffee, the cozy library for reading and movies, the grand formal dining room for meals for the entire family, the original butlers pantry, and the fully functional/stocked main kitchen and laundry room SECOND FLOOR: Made up of seven beautiful bedrooms and three full bathrooms. Five of the bedrooms have one queen bed (three of these bedrooms have desks for working), one bedroom has two queen beds and a working desk, and the last bedroom has one full bed with a working desk as well THIRD FLOOR/LOFT: Dedicated to game and movie nights for the friends and families. It contains four twin beds (PLEASE NOTE: it gets quite hot up there but we have installed a portable AC for day time. It gets significantly cooler up there at night). There is a large smart TV, Mortal Kombat arcade game, a large game table to play the several different board games and puzzles provided, and an Xbox One with two controllers COTTAGE: Connected to the main kitchen and laundry room. This adorable area provides another living space with a desk and TV, a bedroom with a queen bed, one room with a twin bed, and a fully functional kitchen. The kitchen contains a fridges, stove and microwave (so across both kitchens, there are two fridges, stoves and microwaves) OUTDOOR AREA, POOL AND HOT TUB: Provides relaxation, fun for family and friends, and a breath of fresh Maine air. Enjoy the refreshing private pool surrounded by nature, relax in the outdoor hot tub, get competitive with one of the several lawn games, chat in the shade under the gazebo, warm up next to the propane fire pit at night, and cook dinner for the entire group with the fully equipped barbecue. Guests have the entire house to themselves. Although, the basement and carriage house (located on the property) will be locked at all times. My girlfriend Jacquie and I will be available 24/7 to answer questions as they come up. It is easiest to reach us via Airbnb messaging, but you can also text or call. We will do our very best to ensure you have the most comfortable stay. We will not be on the property as we travel for our full time jobs We have provided a house manual to help you navigate through our old and beautiful home, as well as labels around the house to give you a few tips. We think staying in an old house in Maine is all a part of the experience! Escape the crowds of Bar Harbor and come live like a true Mainer in quaint and eclectic Ellsworth! Located only 25 mins from Acadia National Park, Ellsworth is the gateway to world famous Mount Desert Island as well as several coastal Maine towns and an endless amount of hiking trails, ATV trails, fishing, lake and pond access, rivers, fall foliage sites, hunting, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and close proximity to two ski hills (Camden Snow Bowl - 1 hr, and Hermon Mountain - 45 mins). It truly has it all! Ellsworth first settled along the Union River by the British in 1763 after the signing of the Treaty of Paris. Today, Ellsworth is a gorgeous, quiet town offering river access, retail shops, restaurants, a public marina, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, two golf courses, movie theaters, an art center and more. It is the quintessential small American town Ellsworth is the gateway to Acadia and the Downeast. Most anyone driving to Acadia National Park or Bar Harbor will pass through this town. We are walking distance from downtown Ellsworth which is great for eating out or enjoying the area (relax by the river, drive down to the marina, enjoy the leafy surrounds and take in the architecture of the beautiful old homes). We recommend having a car so you're able to explore the Downeast and get around easily. Public transport is not available, and Uber/Lyft is not common in this area. If you require a taxi, we recommend Fritz at Step by Step Taxi (but please give him as much notice as you can, especially for airport transfers). Plenty of parking is available at the house. Just like most houses in Maine, this is a very beautiful, but old house. It has been upgraded, maintained and cared for immaculately and we are so excited to share it with the world, but please read the house rules provided (even though there aren’t many) and the guides around the house to help you navigate through a few things that might be different to you. With that being said, all appliances are brand new and work wonderfully. The house is extremely comfortable and will be fully stocked throughout your stay!
