Tiny Cottage sleeps two, with a full size bed or use pull-out couch, efficiency kitchen, and compact bathroom , shower stall. ( 16’ x 20’ square footage) Located with access to tide pools, glorious sunsets! The space Picturesque New England Vacation: Located at tip of Pemaquid Peninsula, the Post Office Cottage is within minutes to attractions: the lighthouse, historical museums, restaurants, antiques, kayaking, Pemaquid beach and nearby majestic views of ocean. Remember that camera for spectacular shots of crimson sunsets, catch a glimpse of seals frolicking on rocks! Year round restaurants serve seafood, Port Clyde ferry to Monhegan runs daily, opportunities to local vistas, trails, shopping are available. Adorable Cottage sq ft 16 x 20 Amenities include: iron, ironing board, hairdryer. Bedroom Fits full size bed with pillow top (2 years old) shelving, shaker pegs Night table and lamp Kitchen has full size fridge, toaster, oven, pots/pans, plates/cups, coffee maker, spices, stereo. Bathroom is tiny, fully functional and has a shower stall, sink, mirror, toilet, toilet paper, towel racks. Front porch (sits two with cafe table) overlooks vintage garden, flower boxes and provides a spot to enjoy an early morning cup of coffee. Living room includes a pullout couch (double bed) and gate-leg kitchen table with four chairs, coffee table. Plenty of blankets for those great sleeping nights. Adjustable electric heat in both rooms. Keep an eye out for deer, moose, fox, eagles and ospreys. Clear nights provide fabulous star watching. Local grocery store Reilly's only a few minutes drive and has it all...the paper, deli sandwiches, pizza, meats, milk and bread to name a few. Some of our favorite things to do: Seasonal options: Hardy Boat Cruises -- see Maine by sea and smell the salt air and cool breeze on your face. Five minute drive to New Harbor, a quintessential New England working harbor, to go on the Puffin Watch, Seal Watch, Sunset or Light House Cruises. Enjoy lunch or dinner at Shaw's Restaurant--renowned for it's lobster--on the pier at New Harbor when you return back to shore. Monhegan Island-- from Port Clyde Ferry year round A great day-trip to Monhegan Island is a must on this visit to the Maine coast. Wear comfortable foot gear and bring a picnic. There is a back pack in closet for hikers. I suggest hiking to the cliffs on far side of Island. Artist galleries are open by chance in the island village. Lighthouse Museum is interesting and worth poking around to see the local lore of the sea. You can buy pizza and drink on the Island. A local brewery just opened up on the island a few years ago! In May/September Bird Migration Is TOPS! Bring Binoculars, trail guides provided by Hardy Boat, wear good walking shoes for the paths as there are no paved roads....a throw back in time....On a trip last summer one renter saw whales, porpoises, seals, a variety of birds and was especially delighted with trip. Fort William Henry year round, self guided tour at Pemaquid Harbor--fabulous must see spot for the historian in you of colonial life in Northern New England. Early settlement provided Cod for Europeans in 1600's made this an important British claim. It's museum is rich with artifacts and short 15 minute movie of Pemaquid settlement. The fort sports a self-guided tour of settlement and gives an idea of how daily life was conducted. On Monday nights they host a Historical Lectures Series, special events and lantern tours. Pirate Dixie Bull once raided the settlement, a hurricane sunk the Angel Gabriel there, and Native Americans/French traded and fought with British. It is handicap accessible with picnic benches and panoramic view of Pemaquid Harbor. Maine TV crews had been filming Maine archaeologists at a dig this past summer and archaeologists still working at the dig. Picnic basket, blanket, bag, included at cottage. Order a lunch from Riley's Market at the deli section. Pemaquid Beach- always open Love this crescent shaped beach with fine views of John's Bay and Islands. Relax, walk and collect shells and sea glass....Fine white sand, excellent for making sand castles or burying your feet. Snack bar is a must. French fries and a cold drink make it heaven. Fall asleep under an umbrella, listening to the waves. Feeling adventurous? Rent a boogie board and ride the waves if the surf is up. Beach-comb for treasures. Hot showers till 5. Special concerts, fireworks, yoga in the mornings. Park is open till sunset. Minimum fee to enter. Plenty of parking beach lovers delight! Clark's Cove Farm--beautiful orchard on the South Bristol peninsula not far from Christmas Cove (plenty of great views and restaurants there). Perfect for apple picking in the fall, or any other time of year to see sheep and walk the vast, beautiful grounds by the river. Broad Arrow Farm Open year round Trails--gorgeous trails abound this area, and we suggest LaVerna Preserve Hiking area: wooded trail leads directly to stunning wide views of Muscgungous Bay after only a half mile of hiking. Books in cottage have other nature hikes in the area. Internet work area: Drop leaf table lifts up 4 folding wooden chairs available Work space Kitchen table with chairs Guest access The whole property …lawn, small trail and backyard are included in this package. Guests may gain access to the shore, where there are tide pools and a bench to watch sunsets, down a private road a short walk from the cottage. (Walk down the hill to the shoreline)This is a right of way only available to our guests. You are able to climb out onto the rocks. Bristol Park/Coast Guard oversee Pemaquid Lighthouse and provide access to top of Lighthouse tower...fabulous views. Pemaquid Beach open during winter time. Go to Riley's Store Deli will make you a sandwich for a picnic at the beach. Fun beach combing in winter for collectors of shells, driftwood, seaglass. Other things to note Local trails perfect for getting into nature and smelling the pine trees. Clear skies at night at the Lighthouse. Enjoy the quiet and breath in salt air. Fall farms locally have the best Apple Cider...Clarks Cove Farm, pick pumpkins, fresh veggies. Great bird watching during all seasons, fabulous food local lobster, great picnic spots, enjoy climbing rocks, taking a million pictures and going to the beach.
