Charming 17th century cottage by the river

Situated in the beautiful park of a Priory that dates back to the 12th century, this cottage overlooks an exceptional stretch of the Charente River. As well as its own private terrace, there are stone steps for easy access to the river for kayaking and paddle boarding and a 20m long swimming pool and formal gardens. The property is situated in the heart of a picturesque village that has both a Michelin starred restaurant and a local café just a 2 minute walk away. The space The cottage is open plan, with a large kingsize bed and the possibility to accommodate two extra guests on a sofabed in the main room. There is a private terrace that is not overlooked with lovely views of the river. Guest access The property is situated in a seven hectare enclosed park. Guests have full access to all the garden including orchards and wild flower gardens, a formal garden with tunnels as well as a rose walk and an ancient willow walk. Guests can access the river which runs the full length of the garden ,via ancient stone steps which allow easy access for all river activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking. The swimming pool is open during the summer months from may to the end of september. Other things to note In the heart of the village is a Michelin starred restaurant and a village café, a short 5 minute walk from the house. The Cognac golf course, situated among the vineyards is less than 2km and a short 3 minute drive.
