We’re so happy to host you at The Rustic Retreat, a charming, nearly 90-year-old cabin filled with warmth, history, and personality. This home was designed with love and care to create a peaceful, relaxing space where you can unplug, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of mountain living. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable, welcomed, and right at home. About Our Historic Cabin We are incredibly proud of The Rustic Retreat. While it is one of the “younger” historic cabins in town, it still reflects the charm and craftsmanship of a bygone era. With its age comes character, and that means this home is full of unique details and nostalgic touches. If you’re accustomed to modern layouts, central air, and brand-new finishes, this may not be the right fit. But if you love cozy spaces, vintage charm, and stepping back in time, you’ll feel right at home here. ✦ Special features include: ✦ Stained glass windows ✦ Antique “snooker” (mini-billiards) table ✦ Vintage hand-crank phonograph (100-year-old “talking machine” with detailed instructions—please do not allow children to handle it) ✦ Live-edge counters made from a 100-year-old pine tree ✦ Rock fireplace and porch swing ✦ Accordion doors and loft-style bedrooms Comfort & Updates: While preserving the cabin’s historic charm, we’ve made thoughtful updates for comfort: ✦ Fresh sheets, blankets, and towels ✦ Forced-air heating on the main floor and we have an available space heater for upstairs as well as the faux fireplace which is also a heater. ✦ Portable A/C unit for summer months You’ll also see photos of our renovation journey, it’s been a true labor of love and a bit of a giant Pinterest project! Home Details Bedrooms (Upstairs): Bedroom 1: Queen bed with accordion door Bedroom 2: Two full-size beds with curtain entry Bathrooms: Main Floor: Half bath with toilet and sink Upstairs: Single vanity with glass shower Kitchen & Dining Kitchen: Fully equipped with a full-size refrigerator, gas range and oven, microwave, drip coffee maker, and French press. Stocked with cookware, utensils, and dishware for easy meal prep. Tap water is safe for drinking and cooking. Dining Area: Wood dining table with two chairs and two benches, located next to the kitchen. Water & Hydration: Wrightwood tap water may appear bubbly at first due to high pressure, this clears quickly and becomes crystal clear. We have a brita water filter provided for guest use. At this elevation, you may feel more tired than usual, and the air is quite dry. Be sure to drink plenty of water to avoid altitude headaches and dry mouth. Helpful items to bring: ✦ Lip balm ✦ Chewing gum ✦ Vaseline (great for lips and nose at night) ✦ Staying hydrated will make your stay much more enjoyable! Living Spaces Living Room: Leather two-seater sofa facing the wood-burning fireplace, perfect for cozy evenings. This room also has a TV with DVD player. Great Room: Comfortable sofa, leather chair, Smart Roku TV, antique snooker table, and games for all ages. Outdoor Spaces Front Patio: Porch swing, rocking chairs, propane fire pit, and BBQ grill, great for enjoying mountain views. Backyard: Fully fenced with outdoor dining table and umbrella. Side Yard: Horseshoes and dartboard for friendly fun. Parking: Private driveway parking for up to two vehicles. Street parking is not permitted. Non-Smoking Home: ✦ This is a strictly non-smoking cabin. ✦ Smoking inside will result in a $400 fine. If you smoke outside, please properly dispose of all cigarette butts. We are in a high fire-risk area, and fire safety is extremely important to us. Keeping the Cabin Comfortable: Wrightwood enjoys wonderful mountain weather. For best comfort: ✦ Open windows at night ✦ Close them in the morning ✦ Please do not run the A/C overnight or set it below 74°F, as this may affect power to the home. ✦ Fresh mountain air is often cooler and more pleasant than A/C! Water & Septic Awareness: We are on a septic system and under water restrictions. Please: ✦ Limit shower time (hot water lasts ~7 minutes) ✦ Do not flush wipes, feminine products, or paper towels ✦ Do not use garbage disposal for waste Plumbing issues caused by improper use will be charged to the guest. Quiet Retreat – Not a Party Cabin: The Rustic Retreat is designed for relaxation and peaceful mountain living. This is not a party cabin. We kindly ask guests to respect our neighbors who are not on vacation and keep noise to a minimum, especially in the evenings. This home is best suited for families, couples, and small groups looking to unwind. Guest Policy: ✦ Base rate includes up to 5 guests ✦ Additional guests: $25 per person per night The Rustic Retreat is perfect for guests who appreciate history, charm, and a slower pace of life. It’s not “cookie-cutter”, and that’s exactly what makes it special. If you’re looking for a cozy, nostalgic mountain getaway filled with warmth, character, and heart, we think you’ll love it as much as we do. We can’t wait to welcome you! Guest access There are 10 steps to the main living level and upstairs bedrooms. Please note: The wooden staircase is narrow, and guests taller than 6’3” may find limited headroom in upstairs areas. Guests have access to: ✦ Entire cabin except for two locked closets and basement/garage. ✦ Front, side, and back porches ✦ Fully fenced backyard ✦ The basement/garage is not for guest use. On rare occasions, owners may access it and will always notify guests in advance. Other things to note + The wooden staircase is narrow, and guests taller than 6’3” may find limited headroom in upstairs areas. + Please check the weather prior to your stay so you can be properly prepared. We are in an area that can get hot in the summer, very cold in the winter and can experience high winds. We will not issue refunds for weather issues, or road closures that are out of our control. + When visiting a mountain town, it's important to be aware that you may encounter various types of insects and bugs due to the natural environment. No refunds will be issued, though we make every effort to manage pest control. + We strongly encourage purchasing travelers insurance, especially in the winter months.
