Lodge outside Orlando-Central Location

The Crooked Paddle Lodge is a rustic get-away, near the Wekiva River, a designated National Wild and Scenic waterway. This old Florida neighborhood is surrounded by nature and state-owned preserves, with 1.5 acres of Florida country where wild deer, turkey, raccoons, and even black bear frequently visit. The quiet country setting is centrally located to many adventures Florida has to offer. The space The Lodge consists of three individual units, each private from the other, you have your own space. There are areas that are shared such as the fire pits, picnic tables, and grill. Currently, the other 2 units are not available as they are being quietly renovated and will not be available until later this year. This newly renovated unit is the largest with 1,700 sf of open floor plan and vaulted ceilings, sleeping up to 8 guests. The first floor has a large but cozy family and dining room with seating for 8, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms and bath. The first bedroom has a full-size bed and the 2nd bedroom has a queen-size bed. The bath has both a walk-in shower and a relaxing soaking tub. Spiral stairs lead to the 2nd floor open loft bunk room with 4 single beds and another full bath. The living room big screen smart TV can stream your own accounts and favorite shows. This unit is perfect for families or a group of friends. The lodge is very easy to get to, as well as the immediate area which offers some of the best fishing, canoeing, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding and paddle boarding. The lodge is within walking distance of the Wekiva Falls with canoe and kayak rentals and swimming. You can bike or hike in the 28,000-acre Seminole State Forest or the 14,000-acre Rock Springs Run Preserve that also features horseback riding less than a mile from the lodge. With close access to SR 46, the 429 and the I-4, getting to area attractions is easy with Disney, theme parks and Orlando within a 30 minute drive. Daytona and New Smyrna Beaches are within a 45 minute drive. Mount Dora and historic downtown Sanford are only 15 minutes in either direction with shopping, antiquing, restaurants, festivals, sightseeing and day trips. Disclosure and Liability Waiver: Be advised that swimming and “recreational activities” such as hiking, boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing and any other water sports or activities in and around the river are allowed but we advise are at your own risk. This includes any other activity associated with enjoying nature or the outdoors. There is both a State Preserve near the property and the Wekiva River waterfront that borders the property, which is a protected wild and scenic waterway. As such, you may encounter wild animals including black bears and possibly alligators. Please be aware of your surroundings when in the area and agree that it is your responsibility to inspect the property and surrounding areas upon entering and continuously during your stay and to avoid any area activity which you feel to be unsafe. You hereby acknowledge that your participation in activities in and around the river and use of property is at your own risk. You assume all responsibility for any bodily injury or accidents you may incur arising from all aspects of your participation and use, as well as for the protection and supervision of any minor children under your care while at the Property. You understand there are potential dangers that may present to children who are not carefully supervised, any person having health risks, or if a person should perform any of these activities while intoxicated or using any kind of drugs or medication. You understand the risks discussed above and agree that you will assume all responsibility for yourself and for the consequences of those in your party. You agree to waive any claim whatsoever against Crooked Paddle Lodge and its owners for accidents or claims arising from any activities on the property, in and around the river, and hold the owners harmless. Guest access At this time, there is very limited access to the river at the lodge, mostly due to hurricane Ian. The dock is not accessible due to damage from the hurricane. We are in the process of re-landscaping that area of the property, and until we have finished the outdoor renovation, we are reflecting in the lower rate.
