Secluded Maine Waterfront Cottage - One Month Rental
My cozy sanctuary is surrounded by lush gardens and nestled in the woods. There is a big deck great for eating and lounging as well as a screened in porch perfect for summer slumber. Both overlook a beautiful tidal creek. 5-15 minutes from numerous beaches, 10 min to great restaurants, shopping, movies, and art in Portsmouth, NH. 1 hour from both Boston and Portland. Monthly Rental only. The space If you're happy in nature, you won't want to leave the house. You'll love hangin' out on the deck- off the sunny kitchen- watching nuthatches, finches, cardinals on the bird feeders, hummingbirds and butterflies on the perennial plants, kingfishers, great blue herons, bufflehead ducks on the creek. You might also see a friendly flock of wild turkey, deer, and red fox. Tropical plantings surround the deck and house. The interior has a colorful artsy/funky decor that is casual and comfortable. There's a pale yellow Chambers gas stove in the kitchen (Georgia O'Keefe had one in white in her Abiquiu, NM home). No TV but great wireless internet access. I watch my favorite shows streaming. You can swim to a dock below the house at high tide or walk down the hill to a natural "waterpark" where you can ride an incoming tide through a culvert under the road or swim in the warm tidal creek. From there another 2 minute walk to Fort McClary overlooking the mouth of the Piscataqua River. Guest access Further from home, Kittery, Portsmouth, York, Ogunquit are local food and culture destinations- only 4-15 miles away- that offer summer theater, first run and art films, Prescott Park music and summer theater, galleries, shops, outlets. Or you can take a day trip to Boston or Portland in an hour drive!
