The nearest town of Marion is just a 20 minute drive away and has great restaurants, shops and bars. Southern Illinois University-Carbondale is approximately 30 minutes away.

This lake house is located on Lakeshore Dr. South on the west side of Lake of Egypt. Located just off the main channel, this lake house features excellent, deep water with quick access to all things Lake of Egypt.

Lake of Egypt is a stunning lake in the Little Egypt region of Illinois. It is located six miles south of Marion, Illinois and covers 2,300 acres with 90 miles of shoreline. The lake has an average depth of 18 feet with a maximum depth of 52 feet. If fishing is your passion, Lakeshore Cottage is the perfect spot for you with its own private dock for fishing the healthy populations of bass, bluegill and crappie.

A wide array of wineries, breweries, specialty shops, unique eateries, and art galleries dot southern Illinois near Lake of Egypt and are only a few minutes’ drive from your front door.

You can travel the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, which is composed of eleven wineries situated on beautiful rolling hills along a 40-mile trail.

Giant City State Park, an outdoor lover’s paradise of hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and rappelling is just 30 minutes away. The park also is home to one of the most popular restaurants in southern Illinois. Ferne Clyffe State Park is just minutes away from Lakeshore Cottage. Impressive rock formations can be seen from almost all the park trails, but two of the best-known sights are Hawks Cave, a 150-foot-long shelter bluff, and a 100-foot-tall intermittent waterfall on the Big Rocky Hollow trail.

From Nashville, Chicago or St. Louis, Lake of Egypt sits just a few miles off I-57, making the drive quick and easy. Chicago is an approximately 5-hour drive,while St. Louis and Nashville are an easy 2-hour and 3-hour hour drive, respectively. Daily flights are available to and from St. Louis and Nashville from Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois (located 15 minutes from Lake of Egypt). Car rental is available at the airport.

Amtrak is available from Chicago to Carbondale, just twenty miles from the home.
