We will not be on site, but we are only a message away if you run into any issues or have questions. We are situated only 5 mins away from Atlantic Beach, and many of the area's attractions. Morehead City is a beautiful, historic port town in Carteret County, North Carolina that neighbors Atlantic Beach, Beaufort. Atlantic Beach is one of the most visited beach towns on North Carolina's Crystal Coast. Known for its miles of wide sandy beaches and nearly endless choices of oceanfront entertainment, this small beach town has been the go-to destination for family beach vacations for generations The Crystal Coast (sometimes known as the Southern Outer Banks) may not have as much name recognition as the better-known Outer Banks towns to the north, but if you’re looking for a laid-back, fun, and affordable beach vacation in North Carolina, you can’t go wrong with a visit here. Hit the beach! Without a doubt, the beach that runs the length of town and beyond is the major reason people visit Atlantic Beach, us included. Visit Fort Macon State Park. As one of the most popular state parks in North Carolina, visiting Fort Macon is definitely one of the best things to do in Atlantic Beach! Tour the restored 19th-century fort, hike a nature trail, or simply head directly to the beach to enjoy some sun and waves. Shop Beaufort Shop the boutiques on Front Street in Beaufort, learn a bit of history at the North Carolina Maritime Museum, see if you can spot the wild ponies across Taylor Creek, and grab lunch. Cape Lookout. Of all the things to do, this is one that you absolutely should not miss: a day trip to nearby Cape Lookout National Seashore will introduce you to a completely different side of the Crystal Coast that you can’t get by staying on the mainland. Be sure to climb the lighthouse itself (it’s one of the prettiest lighthouses in North Carolina) for absolutely magnificent views, to enjoy the bright, shallow water on the beach that is more reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea than most of the typical beaches on the Crystal Coast, and look for wild horses across the water on Shackleford Banks! Since climbing the lighthouse is such a big part of a day trip to Cape Lookout, be sure to check the schedule to see when it is open, and hurry to grab your ticket and schedule your climbing time as soon as you arrive on the island! Go fishing. Depending on your experience level, this could mean grabbing some bait and heading to one of the piers, signing up for a deep-sea fishing tour, or renting a boat and heading out to sea yourself! Go wreck diving. Home to one of the largest collections of shipwrecks in North America, the Crystal Coast of North Carolina is a fantastic place for experienced divers to head underwater! Don’t have your diving certification? No worries–there are plenty of schools in the area for that. Check out the Hope Pole Creek Nature Preserve. This short, shady, one-mile loop walk leads to excellent views over Bogue Sound. It’s a great way to stretch your legs with a little less sun exposure! Be sure to bring bug spray, though–the mosquitos are brutal here during the summer. Check out the North Carolina Aquarium. The North Carolina Aquarium is involved in enormous amounts of conservation work–and what better time to learn about the fragility of our oceans than when you’re already visiting one? Pine Knoll Shores is home to one branch of the North Carolina Aquarium, one that I credit with teaching me a lot about the ocean, marine life, and the local ecosystem as a child. Devour a slice of Atlantic Beach pie. Atlantic Beach pie has been a staple on the Crystal Coast for far longer than it has had a national reputation, and it’s definitely worth enjoying on its home turf! A pie crust made with saltines may sound a little quirky, but I promise–you won’t regret ordering a slice. Go horseback riding on the beach. If you’ve always wanted to go horseback riding on the beach, there are a few outfits (kind of) near Atlantic Beach that will take you out for an unforgettable ride. You can go horseback riding on the beach in Emerald Isle during the off-season, however, during the summer your best bet is to head up to Cedar Island. It’s a bit of a drive, but if you ask us, it’s well worth it–we got to admire wild horses right up close during this sunset ride! Restaurants Ruddy Duck Tavern | American, Bar, Seafood Seafood, gourmet burgers & thin-crust pizzas, plus beer, wine & spirits, in a waterfront setting. The Banks Grill | American, Cafe Diner Great Brunch! Wonderful breakfast and lunch place! Good food, great service and a nice atmosphere! Price is worth every mouthful! Circa 81 Tapas and Cocktails Delicious! Hands down one of the most delicious dining experiences I've had! Lots of flavor and small plates so you can try multiple items. Amos Mosquito's Restaurant & Bar | American, Seafood, Vegetarian Friendly Amazing food. Great service.! All of our food was wonderful, especially the meatloaf. We enjoyed the tabletop S'Mores for dessert. I really wish this place had reservations. But since they don't...I highly recommend being there at least 15 minutes before they open. Get in line and wait. If you arrive any later, be prepared to wait a long time for a table. Beaufort Grocery CO | American, Vegetarian Friendly, Vegan Options Amazing brunch! We had brunch here and it was amazing. The spinach benedict was served atop fresh toasted bread and the sauce was so good. My husband had the avocado toast and really enjoyed it as well. We split a small order of pancakes and they were really fluffy and tasty. The meals also came with some fresh pastry. We did not leave hungry! Black Sheep | American, Pizza Good pizza with a great view! We loved the back deck. It is on the water & we watched the boats come and go. All of the food was good - Golden beet salad, beer cheese soup, tomato pie and the pizza was amazing! - I would order it all again. Our server was very friendly. It was a nice dinner without the kids. If you are coming with more than 2 cars, There is plenty of free street parking. Please do not park on the grass anytime. The roof line of the front porch is low. Guests 6ft and above may need to lower your head when accessing and leaving the property. Do not hesitate to look at the pictures and ask us if you have a concern. In coastal cities/towns water bugs, mosquitoes, and critters are simply a fact of life. Just a warning for those wary of bugs; even though we have the house professionally cleaned after each guest, and have monthly pest maintenance, we simply can't avoid the occasional critter(s) from breaking in and are 100% out of the host's control. We are on a fragile sewer system. PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILET! This includes but is not limited to baby wipes (or wipes of any kind), feminine hygiene products, facial tissue, paper towels, hair, etc. These things WILL clog the system and you will not be able to use the shower, sinks or toilets.
