The house was built for groups who want to be together without feeling on top of each other. Four bedrooms and several living areas mean there's always a quiet corner to slip off to and a big open space to gather in. It's as easy to host a long dinner for everyone as it is to have coffee alone while the rest of the house sleeps, looking out over the hills. The tower is the part guests remember most. It's a glass room with views in every direction. Watch the sunrise from it, track a storm rolling across the valley, or stargaze after dark in a certified Dark Sky community. There's a telescope up there and games for slow afternoons. The kitchen is set up for people who actually cook. It's generously equipped with the real tools you need to feed a full house, not the bare minimum. Open the doors to the screened porch and the whole back of the house opens to the view. Outside, the setting does most of the work. Long sunset views, a fire pit for the evenings, and regular wildlife moving through the property, from deer and turkeys to the cows on the hill. The landscaping has been built out with care, wildflowers, hydrangeas and boxwoods around the pool, weeping willows in the back, and flowering trees out front. Guests also have full access to The Galena Territory itself, including Lake Galena, the Owners Club with indoor and outdoor pools, fitness and courts, and miles of trails. Downtown Galena and Chestnut Mountain Resort are a short drive away, though most guests find themselves staying in once they arrive. There's an EV charger on site, and families are welcome, kids included. This isn't a typical Galena rental. It's a private, well-positioned home built for people who want a setting that feels different the moment they pull up the drive. Guest access Guests will enjoy exclusive access to the entire property, including the private saltwater pool, hot tub, and outdoor cedar barrel sauna. The entire home is designed for comfort and relaxation, making it a perfect stay for families with children or groups of friends. Other things to note A few things worth knowing before you book — most of these are unique to The Galena Territory, and we'd rather you know up front than be surprised on arrival. - Trash & Recycling: The Galena Territory is a private community without curbside pickup. Like all homeowners here, we ask guests to drop bags at the community dumpster, which is approximately a 10-minute drive from the home. We provide bags, and the route is in your welcome guide. This is a quirk of staying in a private community — and part of what keeps it feeling private. - Sauna: The cedar barrel sauna has a delayed-start timer that can take a few minutes to figure out the first time. We have a short instructional video at the home in the welcome guide. Please reach out if anything isn't clear — we want you to enjoy it fully. - Pool & Hot Tub: The pool and hot tub are open and ready throughout your stay. For safety, the automatic pool cover must remain closed whenever the pool area is unattended, as there is no perimeter fence. This is especially important for guests traveling with young children. - Sound System: The home has a Bang & Olufsen sound system throughout. Some guests have had Bluetooth pairing issues across multiple devices — if you plan to rely on it, we recommend bringing a portable Bluetooth speaker as a backup. - Local Tax: In addition to any taxes collected by Airbnb, Jo Daviess County requires a 5% lodging tax on the booking total, collected separately in accordance with local regulations. This shows up on your Airbnb invoice. - Parking: Maximum of 4 vehicles on the property. Additional parking can be arranged with advance notice. - Occupancy: The home sleeps up to 10 guests, including children over age 2. The sauna and hot tub comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests at a time. - Pets: Well-behaved dogs under 75 lbs are welcome with a $300 pet fee per pet. Pets must be approved in advance and included on the reservation (no aggressive breeds). We ask that pet waste is picked up promptly and pets are not permitted to urinate on the landscaped areas surrounding the home. Leashes are recommended when outdoors. - Booking Note: Instant Book does not automatically guarantee approval.
