La Casa Nel Bosco - Two Bedroom Resort, Sleeps 2
La Casa Nel Bosco enjoys a prime position alongside a picturesque stream within a sprawling private estate. With its beautiful setting, luxury wellness facilities and proximity to hillside towns and scenic countryside, it’s the ultimate Umbrian retreat. This 13th-century mill has been lovingly renovated into a comfortable country home which maintains much of its original character and rustic charm. Wooden beams and exposed brick walls feature throughout, and many rooms boast large stone fireplaces. The mill’s ancient underground vault offers a glimpse into its former life and now provides a unique location for a lavish jacuzzi! Two double bedrooms with marble en-suite bathrooms can be found upstairs, while downstairs offers the perfect place for everyone to get together. Whether you’re flexing your culinary skills in the kitchen, having a romantic al-fresco meal under the stars or spending cosy evenings in front of the fire, there’s a space for every mood and occasion. Outside is just as lovely, with grassy lawns, shady trees and nearby woodland offering lots of greenery. A stream trickling beside the house adds to the idyllic scene and there’s nothing more serene than sitting in the sunshine with your morning coffee and listening to the sound of the water. Enjoy refreshing dips in the pool as well, or, once the sun sets, hop in the outdoor hot tub. To discover the outstanding natural beauty that Umbria possesses, all you need to do is explore the estate surrounding you. There are woods, olive groves, valleys and rivers just beyond your doorstep. Take long walks and spot some of the estate’s wildlife, or try fishing in one of the rivers. There are also some impressive medieval sites in Umbertide, notably the 16th-century Santa Maria della Reggia church and La Rocca, a striking stone fortress. Perugia (20km) is the region’s capital and offers a fantastic selection of sites to explore, including the Priori Palace and Fontana Maggiore, a marble fountain carved with zodiac signs and historical scenes. The city is also well-known for its chocolate, with a festival called EuroChocolate taking place each year, usually in October. And it’s not just chocolate that is celebrated here. Each July, the Umbria Jazz Festival is held in Perugia and features a selection of concerts and street performances. Other charming villages and towns nearby include Assisi (48km) and Montepulciano (59km). The birthplace of St. Francis, Assisi, is a town steeped in beauty and history and boasts a UNESCO-listed Basilica. Montepulciano has great views over Val di Chiana and Val d’Orica and is renowned for its Vino Nobile.
