Ananda means “Blissful” in Sanskrit, and the view is just that. This well-designed and unique architectural wonder have incredible sunset views, a pond, footbridges, and more. Our retreat is located in the quintessential Woodstock, VT, area and has been voted the prettiest town in America. This villa is perfect for families, couples, ski retreats (three ski resorts within a 40-minute drive of the villa), leaf peeping, and people who want to work remotely in beautiful and blissful spaces. The History: Designed by modernist architect Ulrich Franzen in 1965 and recently renovated to capture Franzen's modernist approach, the flow of the villa is multi-level and descends four floors in a spiral. It also presents a flexible layout, a skylight, an open main floor, and a vaulted-ceiling loft. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and it can comfortably sleep 6-8 guests. The estate is part of a four-home co-op that owns and maintains the 10 acres. So there are three other "condos" in our one building, but no walls intersect with them, except for a small mudroom/common area. The land around the co-op is called the Upwey Meadow Area, and the Upwey Valley Trust has purchased Trails to preserve the land area around the house so that no industrialization can occur. Which means we can keep our beautiful meadows and gorgeous mountain views without fear! The Amenities: Ananda Vue is fully equipped to be your home away from home. Below you will find a list of all you need that is already provided for you to use during your stay. The Kitchen: -Brand new stainless steel appliances -A Keurig & electric water kettle to enjoy morning coffee and tea -Cozy breakfast nook -Separate bar-height counter -PLUS a dining table that seats eight people. Imagine those holiday parties! (There is a leaf that extends the table to accommodate eight.) -All dinnerware and utensils included Living Room/Family Room: After skiing the three ski resorts within a 40-minute drive of the Villa, relax in the family room with soaring ceilings, surround windows, and a smart flat-screen TV for a movie night. The ample but cozy space has a large sectional sofa for cuddling up and enjoying the electric fireplace that will keep you toasty and warm. Or, pour some hot cocoa and enjoy the sounds of the vintage record player as you play fun board games. Or enjoy a good book. Also, step out onto a spacious deck right off the living room and enjoy the view, which is perfect for bird watching, and the binoculars and ornithology reference book provided make that easy. Bedrooms: There are three separate bedrooms in the Villa. -A Bunk-bed room with a pull-out trundle bed that can sleep up to 5 people. This room also has views of the garden and surrounding areas. -A Daybed room that converts to a King Bed, and this room also includes an additional flat-screen TV for those movie nights. As well as it can also function as an office as there is a large desk, complete privacy, and the best WIFI. -The Master Suite Room features a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom, and a walk-out to the garden area. Bathrooms: The two bathrooms in the Villa are equipped with the basic necessities you will need. Such as hand soap, toilet paper, towels, and washcloths. You are more than welcome to call me if you have any questions. This area of Vermont is magical, and I can't wait to share it with you. When your reservation is confirmed, I will send you a digital welcome book that will have the answer to all your questions about the villa and the surrounding area. I promise that I won't leave you wondering about anything! Rural Quiet setting Heading into Town: While Ananda Vue is quiet and located on 10 acres with a farm behind it, it is only 3.5 miles from the main town area of Woodstock, VT. Woodstock is home to the Billings farm & Museum, farm-to-table restaurants, and three historic covered bridges. The very nostalgic South Woodstock General Store and Cafe is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the villa itself. They offer incredible food, even some vegetarian options, eclectic gifts, and essential pantry items. The Green Mountain Horse Association is at the base of the hill, and during the summer months, you can view the equestrian riders walking their horses on the main stage. The Famous Woodstock Inn's athletic club is only 2 miles away and has an indoor swimming pool, sauna, tennis courts, and exercise classes. Adjacent to the Woodstock Inn is the spa with two-story sunlight windows that fill the lounging room with beautiful natural light to relax before and after your treatments. And, just outside is the hot tub to soak and soothe your muscles after a long day of skiing, hiking, and biking. IMPORTANT NOTE: Ananda Vue is located on a hill, so AWD and 4WD are mandatory in Winter, because it might be challenging to ascend without them.
