Our cozy, and clean home openly sits on Town Lake, a 40-acre spring fed body of water with depths of up to 30ft that's great for swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoeing. This quiet serene place is perfect for families and friends to relax, recharge and decompress in the UP’s pristine natural beauty. (No A/C in the summer.) The space As you drive down our country road, you immediately feel the lake's majestic charm. The space inside is clean and cozy and offers all the amenities you would have at home. The view of the lake from the kitchen and living room is storybook. There is gas wall heating in each room with the option to use the wood fire stove on colder nights. There is a campfire pit outside along with four Adirondack chairs you can relax in. Step outside onto the back patio and your just a few paces to the dock where there is a flat bottom boat and canoe that sits four. A fishing paradise, with a handful of homes that dot the lakeshore. Townline is only accessible to owners and guests. There are no issues with overfishing here. Throw a line in and catch a bass, northern pike or panfish. Guest access Freshwater Vacation Rentals will email your arrival/departure instructions with door/lock box code. You will let yourselves in and out. The house is yours during your stay, enjoy and relax. ATV's: ATVs are not permitted for use on the property Bathrooms: Bathroom #1- Shower, sink, toilet attached to Master Bedroom Bathroom #2- Shower, sink, toilet, tub Bedroom Configurations: Bedroom #1-Master bedroom- King size bed with attached bathroom Bedroom #2- Queen size bed *Optional sleeping- Sleeper sofa Boats: There is a canoe and a rowboat available for use. (Memorial Day to Labor Day) Boat Launch: Town Lake is a private lake which is unofficially a no-wake lake. It is a quiet lake. You can rent a boat the Forest Glen General Store across the lake and launch from there. There is not a public launch on the lake. A small boat may be possible to launch, yet it is not recommended. Bugs: There are mosquito's, and some flies depending on time of year Cable: NO traditional cable but there is a Roku TV in the Master Bedroom Cell Phone Service: Most major providers have good service Coffee Maker: Drip coffee maker (please bring grounds) Dock: Yes! Great for gaining access to the water with canoe and rowboat! Drinking Water: Well water. Tested and drinkable. Drugs/Smoking/Fireworks: Freshwater does not permit illegal drugs of any kind on the property. Due to the location of the properties, smoking is strongly discouraged around the home and strictly prohibited in the home. Fireworks are prohibited at a Freshwater location for the safety of all persons in and around the property, even if it is legal in that city. Fireplace: Wood stove is not currently functional. There is a cozy electric insert installed that acts as a space heater. Fire-pit: Yes-please bring your own wood. Fishing: Yes, you can fish on the lake. Most common fish are Yellow Perch, Bass, Bluegill, and more. Closest river? Closest fishing river to Town Lake Hideaway would be the Indian River South of Forest Glen Store by about 1 mile. Midway General Store, in Wetmore (owned and operated by Mike and Erica) is helpful in pointing guests in the best direction for fishing. Fishing License: A license is required in order to fish in Michigan. Grill: A propane grill is provided Grocery Store: Forest Glen General Store, Holiday Station Stores (convenience store) - Wetmore, MI Bob's IGA Store - Munising, MI 49862 Handicap Friendly: One level home. Master bathroom has no lip for shower access and a chair for seating inside. Heat: Yes, base board heating Hunting: Not on Property Internet: Yes, Wi-Fi available Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. Parking: Ample room for 2 to 3 cars Pets: 2 dogs max. Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $75/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed. Privacy: There are neighbors Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground. Click here to purchase your snowmobile trail permit. - Alger County Snowmobile Trails (10-15 minutes) - Hiawatha National Forest Trails (15-20 minutes) - Seney National Wildlife Refuge Trails (25-30 minutes) **Guests must trailer to trails** Space: Ranch style home Seniors: More than welcome and easily accessible Swimming: Not a traditional swimming beach. The entire lake is hard sandy bottom. You can swim here-but the lake does get deep pretty quickly, so small kids should be monitored closely. The first 10 feet from shore goes from 0 ft to 2 ft. the next 10 ft from shore goes from 2 ft. to 5-6 ft. then drops to 12 ft. pretty quickly. There is a more traditional shallow water beach less than 1 mile away at Pete's Lake Day Use Area. Televisions: 42" Roku TV in Master bedroom Towels: All bath and kitchen towels will be provided during your stay. Please bring beach towels with you! Washer and Dryer: Yes, detergent provided Winter Activities: * Snowmobiling (10-15 minutes): Enjoy extensive snowmobile trails through Alger County and Hiawatha National Forest * Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing (15-20 minutes): Explore the trails in Hiawatha National Forest and nearby Seney National Wildlife Refuge for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. * Ice Fishing (20-25 minutes): Ice fish on Townline Lake, Big Manistique Lake, or other nearby lakes. * Tahquamenon Falls State Park (45-50 minutes): Winter hiking, snowshoeing, and viewing the frozen waterfalls.
