Description
The more than 7,500 square foot home has two thousand feet of lake frontage, a two-story boathouse, and a long and interesting history. The main house features eight bedrooms and nine baths. It features a great room with a 31-foot vaulted ceiling and two original stone fireplaces. When Former Chicago Mayor Edward Kelly showed off the plans for his new Eagle River home in 1926 the Vilas County News called it, "A Show Place of the North." The space Indian Point Manor was named after the Indian statue at the SW corner of the property overlooking Catfish Lake. The property was originally built by former Chicago Mayor Edward Kelly in 1932. The mayor and his wife carefully and meticulously planned the property to include such items as a projection room for the theater, a two-boat wet boathouse, a great room with 31’ cathedral ceilings, and a carriage house above the garage for his security detail. Indian Point Manor is a massive 9-bedroom house with modern updates and rich history. There are two additional buildings are available on the property's vast 9-acre estate, which offer additional sleeping accommodations for an additional 12 guests. The grounds include a boathouse with an upper-level game room, a private lookout over the lake, and a full-sized tennis court. An outdoor fire pit and grilling area are also located next to the main house among the meticulously groomed yard. The main house is comprised of two levels of stunning architecture and luxurious comforts, bathed in warm light from wall-to-ceiling windows throughout the main level. The great room is the central hub of the home with a 31’ cathedral ceiling, huge stone fireplace, piano, adjustable seating arrangements with a large LOVESAC couch, and state-of-the-art 85” TV with theater sound. Relax and play board games, enjoy a fire in the wood fireplace or have a movie night. Does your group have talent? Use the 1920s finely tuned grand piano to belt out some songs, or have a dance party with the tremendous surround sound system. At the end of the night relax on the couch and marvel at the petroglyphs carved into the Great Room walls. The kitchen is the perfect amalgamation of old-world charm and modern convenience! The kitchen has been meticulously rehabbed to provide a gourmet cooking experience with a Wolf double stove, new countertops for plenty of prep space, and wall-to-ceiling cabinetry appointed with everything you’ll need to impress your guests with your culinary skills. The space features a custom walnut island and the original 1930s GE refrigerator that’s been updated with the latest refrigeration components. There is one dishwasher in the kitchen, and a second dishwasher conveniently located in the attached coffee bar area. There is also a more informal dining area with seating for 8 guests, full tableware, and serving settings are provided for up to 48 people. The property has two master bedrooms, one on each level. Each of the master bedrooms is western facing, measuring 20x19’, and provides a King bed, desk, and seating area. Both bedrooms have large walk-in closets with floor-to-ceiling shelving and a private, attached bath. There are two additional bedrooms on the main level and another five upstairs. See the property photos for bedroom descriptions and locations. The carriage house is located just across the driveway from the Main Manor. The carriage house provides for a separate residence on the same grounds as the Main House. This newly remodeled upper flat sleeps 6 in its two bedrooms and a single bath as well as a full Kitchen. The first bedroom has a King-sized bed and the second room has two full-sized beds. This three-season facility is only available in combination with the Main House.
