Private, Quiet Studio With Mountain Views
Formerly a musician's studio, the studio apartment overlooks an open field with spectacular mountain views. Well insulated for sound and comfort, the studio offers privacy, peace and quiet and a chance to relax and unwind. Functional and decoratively furnished, the details are simple and a bit homespun. Original artworks complete the decor. We converted the music studio into a studio apartment and added a modern kitchen and bath (shower only, no tub). The carpeted living space has air conditioning in Summer and is well heated in Winter. Recessed lighting adds to its understated charm. With 100 mile views of the mountains, the studio also offers full drapes for our guests who like to sleep in. The kitchen features a new electric stove, microwave, apartment-sized refrigerator, coffee maker, pots, pans, cutlery and dishes. We provide spices and most condiments, tea and coffee, and some yummy Vermont treats. Pure artesian well water runs from the tap and is full of healthy minerals. The main space holds a queen bed with new mattress and luxury topper, and a small couch which folds out to a small single bed. A twin-sized solid air mattress with full bedding is also provided upon request. The private bath is just off the living area. The studio has a private entrance through the indoor garage. A lovely winding road leading from the property provides a place to walk under a canopy of trees, and nearby hiking trails are plentiful. An unobstructed view of the night sky offers a chance to gaze at the milky way and constellations overhead. Parking is available right outside. We live on a well-maintained dirt road, but in Winter the road can be difficult to navigate until the plows arrive. We recommend all-wheel or four-wheel drive for Winter and early-Spring travel. We are always just a phone call, email, or text away, to answer questions, make recommendations of places to visit, or anything else you may need during your stay. The town of Brattleboro is twenty minutes away by car. The historic Latchis Theater in downtown Brattleboro shows art films in addition to feature films, and the Vermont Jazz Center hosts concerts throughout three seasons. Stone Church is a popular venue to hear live music. Marlboro Music Festival, The Putney School, and Landmark College are all about a forty minute drive. Brattleboro is known for its music and arts scene, mix of homey and upscale eateries, and a blend of truly original and often quirky locals. There are a number of art galleries on Main Street featuring local and international artists, and the Brattleboro Museum and Arts Center has ongoing and special exhibitions. Greenfield, Massachusetts is about thirty minutes to our South. Outdoor recreation includes hiking, biking, birdwatching and more in Spring Summer and Fall. A lovely historic covered bridge with swimming access, and well-marked hiking trails through the forest are all close by. Winter offers downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating, and sledding. Mount Snow Ski Resort is less than an hour away, and Stratton Mountain is a ninety-minute drive. The studio is 15 minutes from I91 and 20 minutes from Brattleboro. Our road is maintained by the town, but when it snows driving can be challenging. A 4-wheel or All-wheel drive vehicle is recommended for the Winter months. There is no public transportation to our area--a car is needed for your stay. ** No smoking or open flames are allowed on the property. **We continue to observe strict cleaning policies , making sure that all shared surfaces and beddings are disinfected for the safety of our guests and our family members.** **This property is pet-free due to allergies, although you might see deer and wild turkeys during your stay. **We recommend an all wheel drive vehicle for the snowy months. **We have recently upgraded to satellite wifi with Starlink, a big improvement over DSL.
